Very poor performance all round.  Would have took the arm off ye for a draw at half time but most of the half against ten men.
Shouldn't just hoof in crosses.  Try n get to the bye line now and again, surely

A game of two halves. You'd take the 2-2 in the end. Didn't look like we'd ever break them down but it was a sweet cross by Manning and a fine header by an off-form at club, Idah. Hungary can play and even down to 10, they could have nabbed a 3rd. But as Jack always said, the Eastern Europeans don't like to be put under pressure. And it looks like that's the only style we're capable of.

Dag Dog

Hungary were a very cynical team. Pity Ireland didn't sicken them with the win.

Captain Obvious

Apparently last night was the first time in 43 years since Ireland last came back from two goal deficit in a qualifier. When a Frank Stapleton's brace clinched a 3-3 draw against Spain during Euro 84 campaign.

The cross from Kevin O'Callahan with the outside of his left and the header by Stapleton was class... although the 1984 euro campaign overall was one to forget. Hopefully not an omen.

It showed character to come back from 2 nil down after 16 minutes.
3 points from the Armenia game are vital.

Baile Brigín 2

I understand why HH has to be somewhat conservative, but his playing of Doherty is bewildering. The chap hasn't put in a performance for Ireland in years. Too many other options being overlooked.

Kevin O'Callaghan had his arm broken in 1981 so that Sylvester Stallone could play in goal for a rest of the world selection against Nazi Germany. Pele scored and overhead kick with a broken rib in that game.  ;D

Not FAI but can't find a corresponding IFA thread... or should I say IDF?.. hoping NI get hammered tonite after their supporters horrendous chanting at Palestine genocide protest. How can people be expected to join that rabble support? Germany making hard work of this 1-1 on 60 mins.

Great free kick. Poor German team however.

I see Bryson applauded them for it. Says it all.

hopefully that's the last time we see Doherty in an Ireland jersey, he's a poor enough right back never mind left back.
O'Brien at RB, Manning at LB and O'Shea and Collins in the middle has to be the defence going forward.

I thought Collins was a rock to build the team around.  Not so sure now after last night's performance
