This womens world cup is awful. The lack of competitive games even at the business end of the tournament make it unwatchable.

Like ladies soccer ladies rugby is completely overhyped. RTE completely over the top, constantly reminding us of the great achievement of reaching the Quarter Final!

Rugby is over hyped - It's a minority sport in most countries. Soccer on the other hand is a huge sport.

The reality is that it's a much easier pathway to become a "tv player" in women's team sport than it is for their male equivalents. Standards are going to be much lower until the playing pool of coordinated, dedicated, athletes gets much deeper.

The trade off, of course, is that the public and sponsors know this too, and it's very unlikely a female team athlete is going to achieve anything close to pay parity in my lifetime.

They only need to compare themselves to their former selves. Both ladies Gaelic games are unrecognisable in quality to the very recent past. The growth in participation numbers at club level is astounding.

I'm not sure what standard people think the ladies will be in comparison to men's hurling and football!

When physicality is at play then it can't be close. Golf would be the best opportunity to see quality in play between both, obviously the distance from the tee is a big factor but I think I read somewhere that the ladies have better accuracy from the tee to the fairway.

As said, the today ladies game in camogie and ladies football outstrips the game 30 years ago
