Quote from: NorthAntrimSaff on February 02, 2026, 09:46:04 AMThe one thing that stood out for me was the lack of stickwork. Ball not going to hand, missing that lift. Flicking the ball away one handed, how many times did that happen.
Clare were out strong and looked sharp at times, on the other side there couldve easily been 25 points in that game, they hit some wides

I dont understand how weve very little up top (1 man at times) and then were chasing shadows 1v1 around the shooting area?
The ball to stick to hand stuff was driving me crazy

Evolving. Ball to stick to hand to ground was in full flow today.

Definitely time for a conversation. Pull the plug, and get new team in to run the show.
Currently at time of writing we're getting spanked by 12 v Kildare. In the name of flup! If that's not failure what it is.
I get it, Kildare are going well, good side etc... but we're not 12 points off them
He has added precisely nothing so  could it be any worse to get a local manager in on a fraction of the money and a genuine desire to see Antrim do well. Manager's using Antrim as a stepping zone will inevitably end in tears for someone.

Such a frustrating watch. They must have given away at least half a dozen scores just from loose possession in their own half. Ball into the forwards was poor as well. Handling is not happening at all. Need to beat Carlow and Down to have a chance to stay up realistically and based on the last two weeks, that's unlikely.

There's a man with a mullet going mad with a mallet in Millets

Watson has got it right on Facebook.

F**k off Davy back down the road.

Seriously though how can this get any better?
If we cut ties. The boys not on the panel atm wont be up to speed. Were stuck with what we have unfortunately

This is going to get a lot worse before it gets better

The squad has the quality to survive but i have serious doubts about the style of play.

Both wing forwards are asked to run doggies up and down the line. Play as half backs then when the ball is played forward 70m davey is going crazy why theyre not under the breaking ball

Forwards totally outnumbered - attack after attack breaks down and eventually the backs are grinded down and leak the scores

I think it's out of your hands now TBH.

You have Carlow and Dublin at home next up.

Carlow is possible for the win, but I really can't see you getting anything from Dublin who will be pushing hard for promotion. Anything is possible, but there would need to be a serious, marked improvement in form and even when Antrim was going well with the big Gleeson, the Dubs had the better of most of those exchanges.

Then the final game v us in Ballycran in Newry and at that point unless we can take a point or two off Kildare (in Ballycran) before that then this is a dead rubber as Kildare will have you on the head to head if both are on 4 points.

Antrim Coaster

Antrim have won ONE match under Davy's stewardship, a home win against Laois in the league last year, enough to keep us in Division 1B.

Last year's Leinster Championship was a disaster.

The only performance worth talking about was the Offaly match in Tullamore with 14 men in a must win match when Antrim ran out of minutes.

The feeling leaving Tullamore was that Davy has just undone the years of work put in by Big Darren.

Its looking that Davy's legacy is to leave Antrim in Division 2 and playing in the Joe McDonagh where there is absolutely no guarantee of success this year with Laois, Carlow and Westmeath in the mix - counties who have caused serious problems for Antrim in the recent past, especially Carlow who are the next visitors to Dunloy in a fortnight in a must win match for both teams, which I cant see Antrim getting anything from.

Down will obviously be targeting the Antrim match in the Joe Mc Donagh where a Down victory will probably leave Antrim playing in the Christy Ring in 2027.

It would appear that Davy has lost the dressing room.

Yesterday the players looked lost and Kildare cut through Antrim at will. No shortage of big units of lads on that Kildare team either.

What he does with half forwards is awful. When you see half backs playing in half forwards (I do anyway) you find it kind of deflating because it doesn't work and it's not the right way to play hurling.

We're in bad shape here. Even when Gleeson had us going well we struggled with Carlow. Dublin too good for us so for me it's beat Carlow or we're stuffed. Get beat by Carlow and then the Down match doesn't bear thinking about  :(

I'll call a spade a spade here. When you have Managers who come in and whos sole motivation is money then you will always hit problems. It's evident both in hurling and football at the moment. They treat players as commodities and not as players. Players have walked from football set up. Likely in hurling too from what I am hearing.

Dammed if you do bring local managers who are Antrim men and dammed when you don't look at bringing outside managers that are not going to be perceived as being biased

None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought.

Whats Gregory O'Kane doing with himself at the minute

He's involved with the Antrim U-20s
Let no-one say the best hurlers belong to the past. They are with us now, and better yet to come

One thing is for sure, Davy won't be at fault here, it will be the players, the culture etc that were the issue.

It was the same in Clare the last time and with Wexford also.
