Been there for some time JC. He went to help them from the early part of the league season. Im not sure if hes invovled in management or just a coaching role.

Not the type to stand back and just 'coach' I'd have thought.

Any upsets this weekend or we reckon all will go according to the usual?

don't take this to the bookies, but...
Senior
endas v dunloy - endas wont lie down thats for sure. they'd a massive performance against st johns. dunloy should win but it wont be a spanking

cushendall should beat carey - probably 15+

rossa v loughguile expect this one to a be tight game - fancy rossa by a small margin

ballycastle v st johns - for me i fancy ballycastle, i dont think st johns are full throttle, boys in US others injured and a very small ff line

They were badly misbalanced as a team against us and they looked to have remedied some of that against Bredagh.

It takes time to get to know the players at your disposal and how to get the best out of them.

Thought Dunloy were very sloppy tonight, I know it's early but still some warning signs there.
Let no-one say the best hurlers belong to the past. They are with us now, and better yet to come

Or the SHC getting more competitive perhaps? What's not to like about that?

That group could get quite interesting. St endas did a lot better than ballycastle. You wonder is there anything in ballycastle against johnnies.

paddyjohn

Great to see Ciaran Clarke back in action.

Most championships at all three levels almost set up for the knock outs. In senior the top two in each group meet in the final round and bottom two meeting in effectively two preliminary quarter finals (If you want to call them that).  In intermediate Ahoghill and Creggan looking very much like the two from their group.  Glenariffe looking more or less home and hosed.  Bit more of a fight between the rest.  Even St galls could pull themselves right back into the race if they beat tir na nog at milltown next time out.  In junior it's hard to look past Armoy.  However wouldn't rule out the Gorts, LD or Glenravel.  Knock out games can go any way I suppose.  Maybe about time we got rid of these silly groups and got back to straight knock out at all levels or even a structure like the down and Derry football championships.

Hoof Hearted

Never played the game, but I love it. Just want to ask, is it not worrying the difference between senior and intermediate champions is 40 points ?

Normally it wouldn't be as much as 40 points but Carey had a lot of retirements and player unavailability so it probably wouldn't be as bad as that normally.

That being said the gap between intermediate and senior is massive in Antrim. Anyone promoted from intermediate tends to take a hammering plus the likes of cushendall, Dunloy and loughgiel tend to be a good bit better than, most, of the rest anyway.

Yeah championship really only starting now. Intermediate and junior open enough although you would be surprised if glenariffe don't win intermediate.

Maybe it's cause there's so many games on the same days but having no linesmen for senior championship games is a recipe for disaster.

Na Glinntí Glasa

Credit to St Enda's on Friday night, they gave us it with double barrels for the full game. Some real quality hurling and scores taken by them. They are a hell of sight better than people give them credit for.

Them and Ballycastle will be a really interesting match up.

On another note i was happy to see Ciaran Clarke back on the pitch again for the town. A top class hurler and person as well. He's had to deal with so many injuries but he's dug in and shown a lot of resilience to come back.

imtommygunn

Yeah I would agree - great to see Clarke back. It had been a long time and I had heard nothing about him so I wondered was he coming back.

A ref turning up with no umpires isn't acceptable either.

Linesmen can be excused to a certain extent.

Glenssupporter

Having no Linesman at no championship is very poor .  Was right beside a challenge on Sunday that the young fella didn't end up having a similar injury to young jack mcloskey .
