Brugge are a good team, although maybe not as good as last year  :P

Too many bad memories in the recent past from UCL qualifying nightmares to take this team lightly tonight. AEK, Cluj, Ferencvaros. By f**k do the board like to wing it every year

Celtic will hopefully get a good result tonight and away from home next week. Qualification is vital.

But Celtic panel is weaker than last year - far weaker. Nobody in any doubt about that.

Desmond seems to calling the shots. That's a serious issue.

A second, and maybe more important issue is the recruitment 'team'. Serious issues there between them and board. Clearly something not right.

Clearly there's a policy of bringing in players as 'potential' then loaning them back out to other teams. This is constantly happening but outwith a few good examples, Mc Gregor and Scales (who's not top level), I'd say 95% are never heard of again. So clearly, whoever is bringing in these players haven't done their homework.

A second issue is homegrown players. You'd think Celtic could develop a quality academy player every year.

Lads have already said it but the next 7 days are crucial.  If Celtic qualify for the Champions League then better players will be easier to attract and the miserable hoors in the Board might open the biscuit tin.  If Celtic don't qualify then the Board will be content to stay ahead of Rangers at home, spend no money, lose the manager and it's back to square one!

Really disappointing first half. Zero creativity with the exception of maybe KT. Not much in the way of intensity either. Reo running about like a blue arsed fly and Idah has the pace and elegance of a donkey. Maeda not at it either, we're pathetic in the final third. Hopefully Johnstons injury isn't as bad as it looks. That Kairat team aren't up to much but they are well set up defensively and gave a warning shot early on. Need a good boot up the hole for the second half.

A hard working organised team will frustrate an ordinary team and Celtic are a very very ordinary atm. The Kazakhs are hassling & chasing down everthing, nothing fancy.

marty34

Get Idah off and put Maeda through middle.

Corners are awful. Forrest poor. Only players on the bench are midfielders similar to those playing. And a complete lack of pace in the passing. Not losing is only thing going for Celtic in this game

It's been a poor summer from the board. However reality tonight is Idah at £9.5m, Engels £11.5m and Trusty £7m all had bit part roles with limited influence. For a club in Scotland those are decent transfer fees from the last 12 months. Something isn't right at Celtic and it might be beyond just the board.

Despite the over confidence within the media Kairat are a heavily financed club and I think Celtic will struggle to win over there especially without Johnson and Tierney will unlikely last 90 minutes.

I can sadly see it getting messy for Celtic.

The Board and recruitment team at Celtic are a mess. Board seem content with domestic glory while fans want progress in Europe. That's the yardstick for them now.

But, at the same time, I wouldn't be too taken by BR either. Celtic should have had too much for that team. No doubt about that in my opinion.

Celtic have been poor since Bayern Munich game last year. End of season football was brutal. Poor quality. Lke  horse shoe - across the back, then up the side then back again etc. Sideways and backways. Hard to watch.

Even last night I've listened to a few interviews with BR and players saying we didn't start the game well...we had no intensity etc. Come on! I've heard this 20 times before especially recently in recent Rangers games. Happens far too often nowadays. BR is the manager. He should have them fired up.

Ironically, Celtic and Rangers are in a dodgy spot now in Europe with away 2nd legs to come next week. Not helping the Scottish co-efficient.

Laughing at rangers losing to a team that people have actually heard off kind of back fired on Celtic fans last night.
But I'm sure they can still get through.

Celtic need a director of football. The amount of players that are signed that  we either never see or are confined to the bench (despite big price tags) is unbelievable. Clearly BR doesn't trust half the squad and the board don't trust BR in the transfer market.

GTP

The transfer fee for most players Celtic would need to buy to improve is likely out of their reach two recent examples of forwards being transferred a Swiss international and Welsh international who would be the sort of players Celtic might buy -
Leeds United have signed AC Milan striker Noah Okafor for £18m He scored seven goals in 54 games
Wrexham have signed Wales international Nathan Broadhead from Ipswich Town on a deal which could eventually be worth £10m. -Broadhead scored two goals in 18 top-flight appearances, netted twice in 14 senior outings for Wales.
So 10m on a left winger who might improve the team or 18m on a forward who has barely played in two years and doesn't seem to score.
We are stuck being rich in Scotland and poor in comparison to England and lots of Europe.

If they do get through to Champions League with forward line and full backs needing reenforced it will need 4/5 good signings to fill out the squad.

Just a shit show, it's the only way i can describe it. Idah is rotten, Maeda looks uninterested and Forrest is great on his day but he's 34 now and unpredictable. That's our front 3 for a CL game, Maeda's first touch is a tackle. Yang off the bench is supposed to be a our replacements...Sweet Jasus.
How in the name of f**k has to come to this, I know injuries play their part. Jota out but did the Celtic Board really think we were going to progress with that lot?. I bet KT is thinking to himself...WTF have I done coming back here.
I can swim a little but i can't fly an inch
