I don't generally have sad days following my county. Disappointing days, yep. But the saddest I've ever gotten was when I was down in Tipp watching the hurlers go out against Waterford with real fight and pride, and then hearing the reports and scores coming through from Tullamore as Down mutilated Offaly in the football qualifier.

That was as close to sad as you can get.

Probably connacht final 96 in castlebar.

Felt that Galway were going somewhere in 1995 with a big win in the Connacht final and a narrow loss to Tyrone in the All-Ireland semi-final.

Great chance to kick on and do better the following year only to be well beaten by Mayo. That they came so close to winning the All-Ireland was no consolation.

Had Galway won that day, Mayo would never have gone through the nightmare that they experienced in the All Ireland finals that year. I don't think that missing that particular experience would have done them any harm.

Plenty of bad Days been a Rossie

but for me.... 20th June Mayo 3-18 Roscommon 0-7 (Our biggest defeat for 80 years vs what later turned out to be a very average Mayo Team)

p.s i wonder where you got the idea for this thread ::)

Worst day for me was Sligo '02 - thought we were destined to never do it.
Saddest day - league game v Mayo in 2004.
I wanna have my kicks before the whole shithouse goes up in flames.

Losing to Dublin in '05 Leinster Final, especially in the manner we did with two dodgy injury time points for Dublin

2nd March 2004, the day Cormac McAnallen died.

agreed

Definately.
Nothing changed Tyrone aupporters, players etc. more than this event in my opinion.

I take it this thread means 'following' team rather than a real tragedy of a death. results pale in comparison to this.

I think that day would be one of the "saddest" days of most GAA fans across Ireland, never mind just Tyrone followers - but i would assume the thread means the day which was the most disappointing as a follower of your county - and as a Tyrone man i'd have to say Meath in 1996 - even worse than the Dublin final in 1995 in my opinion - closely followed by Sligo 2002!
That was never a square ball!!
