Looking forward to seeing this one on the telly, best thing about the back door is that it throws up matches like this between sides who have little or no history between them.

Best of luck to Sligo, Hope ye can come out on top.

Sligo are flying from Knock to Farranfore on Sat afternoon. Not sure why they aren't flying from Strandhill.
It'll still be a smash 'n' grab anyway.

We have to pick up parsons in bellaghy so makes sense going to Knock. :P

trust me on this fear.. 2-4 weeks, back for the semi ;)

Donaghy will hardly play anymore the year.

i wouldn't be so sure either, it was on the radio yesterday that the Kerry CB announced he will need an operation on the foot.

The Kingdom in all it's glory is nearly on it's knees
The Star has fallen once too often, there's no one for the frees
Dara's mileage clock has gone round twice or more
Mahony's form is very poor,Deccie's leg is sore

Eoin Brosnan and Mike Frank have decided to pack it in
Scanlon's back from injury, and he's looking awful thin
Mike Mac has returned, by far and away too late
Bringing home Sam Maguire will not be their fate

Tom Sullivan's man marking skills have detiorated with age
Paul Galvin spends most of his time in a violent, awful rage
The Gooch is but a shadow of the player he used to be
Tommy Walsh puts down the head,no players can he see

So what do we do? What will we try? How will it unfold?
'Tis time for guts, some leadership and the decisions must be bold
The players must realize their responsibilites they cannot shirk
And on top of the square let's put that mountain  Mike  Quirke!

And leave it in good and high,no messing with the ball
Ban the lateral hand pass, either go forward or not at all
'Twill take a pretty special full back to dominate against our beast
If Gooch can get a couple of sniffs, sure he could have a feast

'tis time to circle the wagons and the team come out and fight
Sheer will to win should be shown when the contest is tight
There's no point in being down, saying as a force they're spent
For form is merely temporary, class is permanent

(not to be confused with austin stacks club which is on the other side of town), its a fine ground bordered by the legendary john mitchels club

And isnt the third club in Tralee called Kerins O Rahillys?

McCausland,EG etc will hardly be attending any games in Tralee for a while  :D

sure is and the forth is na gael.

Isn't St Pat's of Blennerville near Tralee too??

st pats are about a mile outside tralee on the dingle road...

Got to be realistic  :P

Just got the Sligo team text from Club Sligo,

Greene, McGovern, McGuire, Ewing, McNamara, Donovan, J Davey, Mullen, Taylor, Breheny, Costello, Marren, Kelly, EOH, Coen...... no suprises, we cant afford any passengers against Kerry so if that the team that starts we wont win might get lucky and draw :-\. JOC is no fool, i read his book and he'll know they are. KW has been picking them all yr so not suprised there still there. Doubt theyll start in those postions, id swap mcgovern with donovan to mark cooper.

Originally, on the presumption that Declan O'Sullivan was injured, I would have agreed that Donovan would move back into the corner. But it seems O'Sullivan is fit. On that basis I'd expect Donovan to stay CB. Unsurprisingly, Harrisson's injury is really hurting us for this one.

In the year of our Lord 1975
Jackson was black and Elvis alive
Sligo and Kerry played a game of ball
And Kerry did Sligo balls and all

In 2009 at the end of this week
Sligo come south with revenge to seek
The green and gold of the kingdom stand in the way
Just as they did on that long ago day

John B Keane and Willie Yeats look down from the sky
And JB offers a wager with a glint in his eye
"The boys of the Kingdom will prevail by at least 6 or 7"
"Or I'll concede that you are indeed the best wordsmith in heaven"

O please Jack O'Conner, late of Dromid and now of The Glen
Let you honour the Listowel man, that great of the pen
And we'll settle the issue of the greatest bard in the sky
With Galvin growling and Gooch letting fly

My crystal ball can only show one ending
Tis the Sligo goalie's arse and he is bending
Over and Over and Over again
Picking the ball from the net after those Kerrymen

Even if Harrison were available I would still play Ross on Cooper. Harrison isnt suited to marking cooper, harrison plays high risk corner back play and hasnt the physicality to mark cooper IMO. Ewing is nowhere near the standard for him. Ross is the only man for the job, I would say McGovern would do ok on O Sullivan, but I mean either way its worrying. No guarntee even Ross can curtail cooper who can be unstoppable most days. Anyway we'll all be the wiser on Sat evening and MOST important thing is we'll see our boys really made of and where there at, fascinted to see who steps up the plate fulfills there potential, still not convinced we are as good as everyone thinks though. If we can put in a huge performance the confidence gained could be transforming for our county. One things for certain management could do a better job picking the team imo which we get away with against lesser teams but not Kerry.

Strong team, surprised that Young is dropped, he hasnt done too much wrong in my book, but I suppose its a sign of competition for places that he is dropped. McCarthy must be playing decent stuff in training, dont think Jack would play him if he wasnt. Thought Darren O'S or Barry John Walsh would get a shot with Donaghy out. All in all a strong team and I think we'll win reasonably well
