Did anyone else think the ref was a bit harsh on us?, j davey fisted the ball clearly and a few others went against us.

Not crying but worth saying. Pity.

Immense performance by Sligo, absolutely immense, im so proud, the only thing that stopped us winning that game was experience, we are young and we just panicked when the finish line was in sight and realised we were good enough.

From what I could see, coen and kelly were brilliant especially kelly, hope he gets over the peno miss sooner rather than later.J  Davey fantastic courage and runs, had his hands full with galvin. Though TT worked his ass off and orchastrated alot of moves. Harrison, Donovan Mcguire brilliant under serious pressure. mcGovern great tackles, delighted and kudos to the management putting him on Galvin in 2nd half. Costello decent 1st half, got at least 10 possessions, some good some bad passes but heavily involved still unsure about his end product consistency, went out of the game, mcnamara exposed big time, hopefully now will have to work alot harder for a  jersey. S Davey made a few runs linked the play, hit hard but very easy to disposses and it cost us, late tackles aplenty, a mistake bringing him and gaughan too wasted loads. Sweeney didnt do to bad, got good point, brehony did ok but never seemed in a postioon to score except frees. marren did fine. Mullen dont know what to say. If Sligo had won enough possession and breaks we might of won, we had the beating of there backs. Ewing fouled alot but did ok. All in all lets be positive, I am gutted but we are a serious team, the management deserve great credit, theyre picking the right teams and make mostly the right changes, bar 1or 2 and we have young side with something serious to build. Fantastic performance in Kerrys backyard, I wonder was pat smiling in that game as much as when the draw was made?

No more morale victories, we lost today and we need to learn to win aginst the big guns and I belive that will come to us eventually with experience. Future is bright no doubt. Congrats to Kerry, please dont let the mayo yoke anywhere near sam.

I disagree with that. I thought he added serious physicality to a team that was missing it. He really put himself about and won a mountain of ball even if he gave a few frees away.

It is debatable, just looked very figgety and rusty on the ball and got robbed to many times for me and he took that free where he kicked over one of our defenders head. All im saying is he did some damage for us as you said and I did kinda, but IMO he did more damage against us.

Although not playing well at the minute, Kerry are still winning & very few will be looking forward to playing them in the next round.

Kerry only won because Sligo weren't able to. Disappointing in that respect.  Even though Sligo had less possession % wise, they had more than enough, particularly in the middle of the second half, to do something. The unwillingness / inabaility to either attempt or take a score from c. 30 yds just killed us. We can't feel hard done by as we didn't take the chances. The refereeing was patchy, he got very jumpy as the game went on but we can't really complain as Sean Davey would only have been on for about 20 minutes if it was reffed harshly.

We have a good keeper even if kick outs are stiill an issue (certainly were today), we've always been well supplied with decent backs even if they weren't and aren't always picked in the right positions. The starting MF was a disappointment today but we have to stick with them - they are natural MFs. We a decent 'new' scoring forward in Coen, a real playmaker in Costello (although conditioning is a limitation) Gaughan is a year older, Marren has been rehabilitated, Kelly has really arrived and Brehony is still very capable. Reckon there are still a few miles on the EOH clock.

All in the first season under K Walsh has been an upward one. Real progress will be getting out of Div 3 next year.

i thought the ref gave kerry everyting

I did during the game but there were a couple of frees given against Galvin that the ref missed the first jersey pull (one cute one by O'Hara) and I thought the peno might have been outside with the player landing inside. Other than that Kerry seemed to get the decisions.

Kerry had Quirke, Griffin, Bohane and Dara on (I think) all at the same time. That is a lot of big men which will find it difficult against a pacey outfit.

I was sure he was going to give a free and not a penalty. Would have been the usual cop out, but to be fair to him he gave the penalty. Sligo just didn't have the composure the forward line in the second half. There hadn't the cuteness to draw free or a man you could point from 40 yards out over the top of the swarming Kerry blanket. Kerry hung in there, they will probably get Antrim next?

Might get Tyrone.

Really hard luck to Sligo, the same as they did against Galway. For me they were the best team. Young lad that missed the penalty will be sick but he learnt a valuable lesson, always keep the penalties low and hard!

Happy we got thru today. Knew it would be tight but Sligo kicked a pile of wides. Our FF line was in real trouble today. Gooch v poor - even his free taking was bad, however, I feel he should click any game soon but hopefully before its not too late! Our Half fwd line saved us today - Galvin and Declan the 2 notable mentions. Tomas O Se was superb again. Dont know why Scanlon was took off again eventhough he was doing pretty ok. Marc got a roasting alright but is Reidy really a capable substitution? His jersey tugging let him down again!
anyway its onwards and hopefully upwards - the draw will be interesting. Kildare, G'way/Mayo or Limerick wont have any fear of us after our recent displays.

so Unlucky Sligo  :( everyone that watched that game today knows Sligo should have won, reminds me so much of last year when Tyrone couldn't find their form only to Hammer a odds on favourites Dublin, what odds on the same happening again?
The key to success is to be consistently competitive -- if you bang on the door often it will open

Sligo really should have won. If they could kick a point....

They seemed to be a team made up of fairly poor players but are very well organised and committed. Kevin Walsh seems to be a good manager, hopefully he will take over Galway some day.

Kerry's season is seemingly mirroring Tyrone 08, scraping by and no more, one big performance and they could steamroll to croker on the third week of September. All this talk of Kerry in decline is a bit premature, beware the wounded animal
