I didn't critic it. I asked whether Nolan challenged the clear institutional sectarianism in the PSNI in his show. I'm guessing he doesn't want to shine a light on that subject any more than you apparently do.

You'd be forgiven for thinking it's propaganda for the PSNI, but I suppose the whole angle was to show how horrible their job can be.

There was a bit of a sob story on two brothers squatting on the lisburn road. One of them dying and the other one crying about losing his brother. Both drug users, both violent and the one dying an alleged rapist.

Nolan didn't tell you that, nor did he tell you about the 8 months torture they put local business owners through. He didn't show the interview with the owners' son, nor mention the fear and abuse he and his parents put up with, or that the police took 8 months to move these people on. Because that might make the police look bad.

Can't see him doing that. Would assume the show is another "poor me" publicity stunt for the RUC and their officers too stupid for a proper job.

As others have said, that clearly wasn't the purpose of the show. That's what investigative journalism programmes like Spotlight are for. There is no doubt there was a PR piece for the PSNI in this and it was clearly riding on the coat tails of the success of Blue Lights, but it gave a real insight into the troubles the peelers and society in general are facing related to drink, drugs and mental health.

I didn't watch the show because I'd heard enough to know it was a PR excecise for the police and given that we have so much evidence of institutional sectarianism in the organisation, then I've no interest in watching it's reputation being whitewashed by, of all people, Stephen Nolan - a man without whom neither the TUV nor Jim Allister would be where they are now.

My intial post wasn't an attempt to derail the thread - more just a gentle reminder to those who needed it, that the PSNI isn't the orgnisation that Nolan would have you believe.

Wasn't buying that sob story at all myself. 2 scumbags. Was shocked at the drug use out in the public and the police turning a blind eye. If that was any other law abiding person they'd surely be arrested.

Agreed. Small moments where he's close to Michael Scottisms (which is no bad thing) and overall a decent show.

I'm not sure if there is a poster on here that feels that Nolan is self serving and the PSNI have serious issues that have never been resolved, but SF happy enough to sit with them
