Lads am i right in thinking that you can no longer get a summer transfer to an american club if you arent a student?

naw pretty sure they've done away with that rule this year!

The rule only applies to inter county players.  60 day sanctions are available to all others.

pardon my ignorence but whats a 60 day sanction? Ive emailed Croke Park looking info on this matter but nothing has come through as yet.

A 60 day sanstion is more or less a 60 day transfer which allows you to play for a club in America during the summer.  The process by which you get one is fairly simple and straight forward.  You will find the sanction form relevant to you at this address: http://www.gaa.ie/page/gaa_forms.html.  Just be aware that there are separate forms for New York and the rest of America.  If you are going to somewhere other than New York you must fill out the form for NACB & CCB.

the 60 day sanction basically means you cannot play with your home club in Ireland 60 days from the day the sanction is put through. You can play for as long as you want in the States. It has to be signed by Club and County secretary.
