Seriously though it has turned out that the alledged attacker is a supporter of Carrickmore but not a paid member. Ironically the county chairman who got hit opened the gate to let the supporters in!

Incidentally does anyone know if any punishment handed out affects the mens club. There is a lad at work who is insisting that the whole club will be suspended. Right enough I dont know why I am listening to him, the person he told me who was responsible for assaulting the ref wasnt even in the country!

Was chatting about this today at work. Although Carrickmore men and ladies have merged, the county boards haven't, so therefore they are looked upon as two separate clubs.

Was at an Ulster Ladies Senior Championship match between Carmen and a Monaghan outfit in Clones for my troubles and the Carmen supporters beat the lugs off the referee after that as well. Trying to think of the year but I cant mind. It was around 2003/2004.

Wee Roddy ur attitude says it all! If he wasn't hit hard then its all right! The mind boggles. The punishment will not fit the crime as the club already know it won't effect them at all. Its a road they have been on before and will again!

I hear the PSNI are involved and glad they are. Assault charges would be in order. Send out a strong message that this type of behaviour is not on!

Dell, excuse me but did I not follow up that remark with "seriously". Referees should not be hit with any amount of force or abuse in anyway on a field. Are you happy now!

Pretty low life act. Does Carrickmore as a club not have previous for this sort of thing and will this affect their punishment?
Or will it be like the previous occassions where it was brushed under the carpet as the county board don't want to feel the wrath of one of the county's two superpowers. If it was anbody else apart from Errigal then the club grounds would be closed already.

It wasn't intended to be a compliment. However, the two biggest clubs in Tyrone are Errigal and Carmen. The county board would not do anything to annoy either.

The county board that you refer to has nothing to do with what will happen Carrickmore Ladies club. It will be the Ladies county board that will decide on what happens and hopefully the PSNI as well.

I thought it was previously stated that there is no Ladies club as the clubs had merged? Therefore any punishment dished out would be applicable to the club as a whole?
