Quote from: tyroneStatto on August 24, 2025, 06:35:53 PMArdboe convincing winners in the minor championship to win their 8th title. Apart from Errigal with 4 titles in the last 20 years of minors, only Coalisland 2006 and Omagh 2009/2010 have went onto win the SFC within a few years after. But this Ardboe team look like the real deal and a big possibility they will go on to win Senior too, and they've a great chance of upsetting Errigal this year in the SFC 1st Round.

Has that team been coached by outside men since u14? Where is the game going when we are paying for a minor club manager. Plenty of good men in loughshore

Don't know if since U-14 but if true that would be wrong. Bad enough it happening at Senior level.

There's a referee from the 1970's just wanted confirmation from any older posters here what club he was from. Basil Neville think he might have been Killyclogher.

Quote from: bringbackdregish on August 21, 2025, 11:22:12 AMGalbally vs the donaghmore gardeners in championship will be a tasty one. Galbally will take no sh1t this time round.

I hear there were some choice words during the league game for the Galbally goalkeeper who used to be a donaghmore man.

Maybe if Donaghmore focused more on the football side of things rather than planting flowers and sledging young goalkeepers they could actually get past the first round.

This transfer epitomises the softness of these two clubs. Can't imagine a player moving from clonoe to coalisland or killyclogher to Omagh for example without major outrage.

It's not really a proper derby is it

Softness of both clubs? Galbally are soft for taking an all Ireland winning goalkeeper from their parish rivals?

Have you ever stepped foot in Galbally? Why do you think the psni are afraid to enter it?

What makes Galbally vs Donaghmore a proper derby is not just because they share a parish. It goes far beyond football as well. Donaghmore would be seen as upper class people and look down on Galbally as lower class. Many Galbally men in the east Tyrone brigade died fighting against Britain's occupation with Martin Hurson willing to starve himself to death while Donaghmore men hid away. which is why Galbally see the other side of the parish as cowards.

Where else in Tyrone would you find a parish with two clubs that are so different? Donaghmore men will always fall out with each other and transfer clubs but never in a million years would a Galbally man transfer to Donaghmore.

But when your idea of a proper derby is the likes of Omagh and killyclogher who are in different parish's and go with each other to the sunbeds and Turkish barbers then you mustn't have stepped foot in too many places in Tyrone.

Retweet.

Wow, I think I may have hit a nerve there. So much so, you have made something of this which it is not.

Firstly, never once have I questioned the integrity or mettle of men from galbally fighting for our country. I have however questioned that of your footballers, as I was talking about FOOTBALL.

Yes I have stepped foot in galbally, and guess what I did every time? Won. Because galbally are soft. Are you so naive as to think that teams are scared to go to galbally to play football because members of your community were involved IRA activities 40 years ago?

The fact of the matter is that i could count on one hand the combined championship wins galbally and donaghmore have in the last 25 years. Both teams are soft. Every year both teams make a somewhat decent account of themselves in league football to secure safety and ultimately crumble when it comes to real football. Soft.

I think it is a soft mentality that a player could even feel comfortable transferring to their most hated 'rival' just because they weren't getting a game. Slag the Omagh and KC boys all you want, but it wouldn't happen there. And I've seen more needle in those games than I've ever seen between galbally and donaghmore

For what it's worth I'll be supporting galbally in this game. Would love my club to get them second round, should we be fortunate enough to get through.

Also, deleting your post and not standing by what you said also comes across as a little bit soft.

It's obviously working for them at that level though. Consistently in grade 1 and always challenging and winning titles at underage. That is some minor team they have

I vaguely remember Basil. I'm told he was Beragh and then Killyclogher.
He died last September and funeral was indeed in Killyclogher. God Rest Him 🙏

Loughmacrory's G2 Minor championship win yesterday surprisingly was their first ever Minor championship title at any level.

There A team were beat in the Grade1 final also, some going.

Stewartstown finish out their disappointing season with a good win over another disappointing team in Aghyaran.

Killeeshil and Fintona both well beaten but their focus will be on each other.

Clonoe finish out the season with yet another comprehensive win to go 15/15.

Moy badly slipped up against Coalisland, leading with 15 minutes left to drop to 3rd. Eglish taking advantage and now have double hope in championship to get promoted.

Owen Roes strong finish to season and end in 5th. Good showing from them with 3 wins in final week. An outside bet for championship behind the front 4.

Naomh Eoghain and kildress will both fancy their chances in opening game. As will drumquin and Beragh.
The open draw definitely makes it more appealing for clubs like the 5 mentioned above

That same team never won a championship at underage until yesterday. I could be wrong I don't think they even contested a championship final the whole way up.
More disciplined this year maybe that's the big thing.

Errigal beat them 3-7 to 0-9 in 2022 U-15 Grade 1 championship final. Loughmacrory then finished 12th out of 13 teams in the following season's U-16 league.

As for Ardboe, that same group of players would have been beaten by Errigal in 2022 Feile Final. Ardboe then won the U-16 G1 league in 2023.
