Norf were ya at the game on sunday?
Was surprised at how well our boys played. You's never really got going at all.

I think one of the weights behine 3*16s was that County players to be available for all games.

QuoteAnyone have any thoughts of returning to a 3 x 16 league format?
The biggest problem with 3*16s and I see it this year already, is that after 6 or 7 games leages can lose their competitiveness. The absence of the play off system causes this. A few years back when we were in divsion 2 (Thats not a typo  ;D ) we went into the last series of games needing a win to go into the promotion PO and a defeat could've put us into a relegation PO. Now this is extreme, but the beauty is that even if you are out of the league race early on, you remain competitive as a PO berth is attainable.

I think that the 3*16s should be married with a play-off system.

For example in div 1, the bottom 2 teams go down and are replaced with the league winners, and Cship winners from div 2. The team that finishes 3rd last in div 1, goes into a play off with the teams finishing 2nd-4th in div 2. Essentially a semifinal and then final.

The reason for the skewed 1 from div 1, and 3 from div 2, is that it reduces the fear factor that people have with play-offs. In addition if for some reason Tyrone were flying and wanted County players not to play for their Clubs, it would reduce the potential negative impact of their loss.

Feck it...how do I propose this at County level?

I wasn't SS as I was on night shift, but I believe we were very poor, as we have been most of the season. We can point to injuries etc, but we also have lots of room for improvement.

Orangeman is Brian going back to the specialist today? The vibes about his recovery are now beginning to sound positive which would be great for himself firstly his club and the county.

On the league format i took it to be that there would be no starred games next year meaning county players in all games. Also does the third place team in 1b play the bottom in 1a and the fourth in 1b play second from bottom in 1a.

Some clubs will be taking a big jump this yr i.e teams going from Div 2 to next seasons Div 1. For instance look at Killyman they are at the bottom of Div 2 and look like going to Junior next season but they are in the semi final of the Intermediate C'ship and if they overcome Augher and get to and win the final would be promoted to Div 1 in 2008. In reality they will either be facing Errigal Ciarans 1st team or Errigal Ciarans 3rds next season. Some difference.

Another point about the leagues changing is our Intermediate and Junior Championship winners should be stronger and should dominate the Ulster club C'ships. Imagine Moy with their 4 county men or Clann Na Gael with there 2 county men in the Ulster Intermediate C'ship. At present there is 24 teams playing above our Intermediate C'ship winners and 36 above our Junior winners but with the new format there will be only 16 abouve our intermediate winners and 32 above our Junior winners.

Snapper - will try and find out and will let you know.

Think both Clann Na Gael and Moy should have had there county players available for every game this year. The Moy in particular basically seem to be conceding the points in every game they play without the county boys, think last year they made a big push when the county boys were back so maybe they can do the same this year. Would be a bit unfair to get taken over by someone like Augher. Should have considered an 11 game league this year with an alternative competition during the summer, with the league going back to 3 x 16 next year. Galbally were complaining about missing some of there players and Im sure none are at the same level of the Cavanaghs, Mellon, Jordan, O'Neill or Dooher. Clann Na Gael cant complain as much though as there players have had a lot of injuries anyway.

Suprise suprise Edendork gets the big game this weekend. No stand (and the weather is terrible) and terrible parking and poor atmosphere. Somebody in the county board must have an influence here! Dungannon is a far better option, though maybe the general repair of the place rules it out.

Sorry TD, what is the big game this weekend?

amongthebushes

With the club championship matchs running over two weekends, does this mean that there is no league football for the rest of the clubs?

clarshack

refixtures are planned apparently. gortin and dungannon have 3 games in hand on a few teams in 1B.

Snapper - apparently Brian's specialist was pleased with progress yesterday -  things are perhaps a little more postive - but there's still a very long way to go.

hows she cutting

Not sure is this has been posted already but has anyone got Tyrone championship fixtures for the next few weekends?

rumours were ripe arpund our club last night that new championship contenders are trying to add to their already impressive squad but asking the McGahans from Killyman and Paul Rouse from B'Ville to transfer to them for next year. Any coalisland, Killyman or Brackaville people confirm this? who do Coalisland think they are chelsea?

Does anyone else think it is totally unfair on Beragh and Brackaville to ask them to play a championship game on a thursday night never mind a semi final.
