Disagree, think TOP 4 league playoffs should stay. This year you had 2 good league semi finals and a showpiece league final occasion. This years top 4 were probably the top 4 teams in the division (outside of Dromore who just seemed to disregard the league) Also - its gives teams something to aim for, in stead of their season ending half way through when alot of them realise they cant top the league or they probaly wont get relegated - so effectively its season over if theyve nothing to aim for.

Yes but, that's what a league is. It rewards the most consistant team throughout the year.

We already have a prestigous knock out competition that showcases the big teams head to head. Very frustrating for a team to lead the table the whole year and then in theory lose the title to a 4th placed side over the course of 60 mins. I actually think the playoff format has cheapened the prestige of the league in recent years.

Makes sense from a CB pov of course.

That would be ok if there wasn't starred games were teams were playing without their best players for up to 5 games while other teams had everyone available for all games.

Really? Where they made Ardboe play their semi-final 3 days after the County Final v Carrickmore in Carrickmore in torrential rain and on a horrible pitch, and the final ended up with a field fight.

On the subject of Clonoe not being good champions, any team that beat Errigal,Carrickmore and Dromore on their way to lifting the cup is a fairly good team in my book!

They beat Errigal,Carmen and dromore before they became champions....

2009 championship they bottled it at the first hurdle !!

nothingbettertobeat

they never bottled it! game plaed in terrible conditions it was for all to see in killyclogher that night that the best team was beat! 19 wides recorded during that game for clonoe!
if they had of had their shooting boots coulda been embarasssing!

but they didn't... Of course clonoe were worthy champions but your argument that the only reason they got beat was because they wernt wearing their shooting boots is plain stupid

Certainly didn't bottle it. I think it was a touch of second year syndrome as well were they weren't that up for it after 2008. A lot of the team went to the States after that Trillick game and by all accounts they weren't too devastated about it. I was at that game and first half they did miss a lot of scores and Trillick who had far less oportunities took theirs. Same nite Coalisland should have beat Dromore and missed loads of scores too. That was a  draw.
Anyway word is Clonoe they are bursting to give it a lash this time around. I would rate their chances highly.
