Am I alone in hating the man?

why do you hate him and even though you hate him do you not think he was a great manager and a one off.

He was a great manager, still don't like him though.

This quote did't sit well with me..

"I will always remain convinced that those Liverpool fans who died were killed by Liverpool people."
Brian Clough.

Also I think he was an arrogant gobshite of the highest order and a bully.

He reminds me of a current day Premier League manager

After your comments on the CJ Courty thread, I find the above a bit strange  ;)  ;)

I wondered how long it would take Corn to dig out a Hillsborough quote.

Without wanting to start WW3 in here, that is a fact (even if it may be uncomfortable for certain people)

T Fearon

He was eccentric as well. He took O'Neill of in a Charity Shield Final immediately after scoring two goals. When O'Neill asked him waht the f$$k he was playing at , Cloughie told him "you're hogging the ball!"

Also celebrated the League Cup win in 1979 by bringing the trophy home that night, puttting it on top of the tv set, and getting fish suppers for the whole family , and they all sat watching the highlights with the trophy on top of the tv, eating fish and chips.

Also riled Ferguson for years before 1999, saying "He might have a knighthood etc but I've two things he doesn't have, and I don't mean balls!" :D He was referring to European Cup wins.

My late brother got called into the Armagh squad to go to Wexford for a pitch opening in 1979, and I remember him saying how the Armagh manager  (Gerry O'Neill, brother of Martin)made the whole squad stop off in Dublin enroute, to watch the 1979 League Cup Final live on RTE, which couldn't be accessed up North in those days. :D

Knew another fellow who went to St Colmans at the time, and he said Gerry O'Neill (who taught there)spent all of his time in classes on Monday talking about Forest and Martin and the weekend match! ;D

Lads don't hijack this thread with that discussion.

EDIT- If any of you have any interest in Clough, "Provided you dont kiss me" by Duncan Hamilton is essential reading.

Exactly, this is a Brian Clough appreciation thread.

Soory a Brian Clough what?

The thread title says Brian Clough, it says nothing about having to appreciate him.

A gobshite of the highest order and I am amazed at the amount of people bought by the media's love of his cocky attitude.

Funny the Taylor Report said it was police failures and not opening the second gate or delaying the game that caused it, but sure what would they know.

Ah Doogie you will have to get it, Hamilton was a journalist with "The Nottingham Evening Post" (i think) and covered Forest games for years. He got to know Clough well, "warts and all" is how they describe these kinds of books i believe......

Yes that is what caused it.
Same as a car crash, the driver may have caused it but it was the car that done the damage, if you want to go down that road

Not getting into a debate about it, but you know what I mean about his quote
