I'm just offering an alternative viewpoint to the viewpoints shared by 99% of the posters on here

It's like when I'm in Ireland speaking to people can't believe how anyone would ever vote for Trump in a million years. They really have no idea how bad the Democrats are

TSLA down another 15% today.

Turns out no one wants a brand associated with a NaziFascist.

Let's hope it hits the floor. I believe he is highly leveraged on the value of his Tesla stock. Still, always the Russians to bail him out if need be, same as his boss.

And right they are for their incredulity.

But yeah, it's all the Dems fault that the formerly Grand Old Party has been the Donald J Trump personality cult for ten years.

It's all the Dems fault for putting forward a candidate who was so bad that 77M voters thought Trump was a better option

And if you mention misogyny or racism as an excuse for her losing, let me remind you of how much support she got from the Democratic base during the primary in 2020.....zero. She was terrible then and even worse in 2024

(I had forgotten that at one point she was even open to allowing the Boston Marathon bomber to vote from prison)

I don't give a bollocks how bad Harris was as a candidate (and I think she did ok, not great, but ok, given the hand she was dealt by Biden, his deluded campaign team and the cowards in Democratic leadership).

The GOP chose Trump. They had options who would also have won and more then delivered on immigration and quite possibly have given us relatively sane economic and trade policy. That the necessary sliver of the electorate on top of the GOP was then either hoodwinked, oblivious or thought that the leopards wouldn't touch them does not excuse that it's the bigoted personality cult foisting this basket case back onto the world.

So the Democrats tried to pull the biggest con job of all time and foist a senile octogenarian onto us, who was then probably going to step down once re-elected and hand the reins over to Kamala.....the Senator with the most radical leftist record in the country....good job George Clooney figured out what was going on.

You can bang on about the evil Dems all you want but there is no country on earth that a person like Donald Trump should be elected president. It always seems that you are always trying to justify your support for Trump so you are going the Fox News route by vilifying the Dems and portraying the Lying King as a man of strength.

Gabriel_Hurl

I see President Musk has gone after former NASA astronaut and Gulf War veteran Mark Kelly as being "a traitor" to the country.

I thought he was supposed to be a smart guy.

So if you didn't like what the Democrats were doing and the direction the country was taking, are you happy with the change? You write like you are just sitting there eating popcorn watching the show and this doesn't really affect you. Are the changes Trump et al are making improving things from your perspective and in what way? Do you really believe that these people have the best interests of women in their hearts for example? Is the world that Trump, Vance Musk etc envision the place you would want your kids and grandkids to grow up?

Look-Up!

Certainly has exposed a huge flaw in the democracy model with media influence and misinformation used as tools of war in elections.

Harris was a bad candidate and the optics of denying there was any sort of decline in Biden's ability to function were a bad look. Americans voted for an "alternative", much like we did in Eurovision when we sent Dustin the Turkey to represent us. Although a bit of a cult here, our feathered hero went down like a lead balloon with our European friends.

We'll see if sanity prevails with current administration but so far it looks like this election will have serious geopolitical repercussions and cause a monumental shift in European policy and future transatlantic relations, long long after the current agitators are pushing up daisies.

You say that as if it's a bad thing.

The US hasn't been a force for good in the world since WW2.

Unbridled capitalism, the wars, the coups, the support for dictators and despots throughout the world for "strategic" purposes have left too many dead and people left in poverty.

The Europeans also would like to forget their own colonial history when they set themselves up as the moral superiors of the natives throughout the world. And we know how that worked out and is still playing out in certain regions.

It's never a good thing having one "super power" who maintain that "power" with military might so a bit of equilibrium for a while might be a good thing.

Absolutely not how I wrote it. I'm saying I have no idea how it will pan out and most of us here will probably not live to see where it goes.

And I do agree with your post BTW but change on the scale we're talking carries huge risk. It may all work out for the best, European model at least tries to build a fairer society. But to expand militarily we will need to borrow on a scale we haven't seen before but that only works for us with the Euro as the go-to world currency. And that means attacking the dollar. I cannot see that going too pretty, might even trigger another nuclear arms race.

The US committed many of the crimes you mention during the Cold War so 'equilibrium' didn't make a difference.

Things are going to get a lot, lot worse going forward with China wanting to exert their power and Russia looking to rebuild their former empire.

How you think that is a good thing is beyond me.

There will also be a new nuclear arms race. Ukraine, Poland, South Korea to name a few will all want nuclear arms and who could blame them.

Edit: not to mention whatever else the Trump regime get up to in the next four years.

China is an interesting one as there's no doubt they are building their military capabilities, but how many Chinese Military bases are surrounding the US and who many US military bases are surrounding China?

what came first?

You think China are only building their military power as a result of US military bases in Asia-Pacific? Who told you that? John Pilger?

Is there a  US plan to invade China now?

China wants to invade Taiwan because of US military bases in the region?
