Cheeky f**kers, piss off back to your own threads >:( :P  I don't actually think this is a bad thing.  I am not saying the league will be won, and I agree with Silky that a youthful team should be played in Europe, but the reality is that Liverpool need to take the PL as the only priority this year.  The big teams will still drop points and Liverpool can climb up.  It is vital though that the next 4-5 League games are won and that is where I fear things may be hard.  Getting a solid position in the top 4 is now essential this side of Christmas.

on a more serious note while Minder thinks about Cantona, why did Benitez make the subs he did?
Specifcally taking off N'Gog? They already knew the score from florence so goal diff would have made a big diff shoudl Lyon get the draw they were threatening. Why is £20m now fit aqualiani not being played?

Would goal differance have mattered? I can't be arsed checking, but regardless if Liverpoll had've won 6-0, they still would've only needed a 3-0 win over the Violas to supercede their earlier result.

Matters f**k all now though.

If Fiorentina had have drawn and Liverpool could have beaten their goal difference (I thought they would have needed 6 last night but the commentator said 4) then a 2-0 win in Anfield against Fiorentina would have been enough. But as you say, matters f**k all now.

With Fiorentina's results aside, I actually think we can be very disappointed with Liverpools performance last night. Like most games they started well but couldn't sustain that for the whole match and for me they did not create enough chances against, it must be said, one of the poorest teams in the competition. Kuyt was terrible yet again, if it wasn't for our injury crisis he should be dropped straight away (but of course he won't be). We had to suffer a lot of frustration with Kuyt before he came good last season but he looks like he's showing the form of old at the minute and I for one am not prepared to sit through that sort of rubbish again.

I can't have Lucas and Mascherano playing in central midfield together, its pure death. Thats no slight on Lucas who has gone up in my estimation this season and for me on this seasons form could warrant a start ahead of Mascherano but they are far too similar to play together, it has to be changed.

As Gerard said, you usually get what you deserve in football and we don't deserve to be in the second round of the Champions League. Need to take it on the chin now and show some character to bounce back and salvage something out of this disasterous year.

N'gog is showing real promise and is one of the only pluses that can be taken out of the last few weeks.

Refreshing to hear someone in the game telling it as it is.

Maybe Gerrard is beginning to see that the fans prefer honesty rather than a captain that is the manager's lap-dog.

And whatever about Gerrard's comment, it's self evident. You usually get what you deserve, and Liverpool got theirs.

To the silver lining, and various strings to be clutched, at least if the injuries clear up, there'll be a good chance of a run for fourth. Sad that the targets are so low in November, but you have to be realistic.

Do you know this may sound crazy to some peopel, and our own Rafa on here, but I have a stranger feeling that there will be something silly going to happen.  I want to categorically state that at this moment Liverpool will not win the PL as things stand.  But....there are only 5 points between 3rd placed and Liverpool.  City and Spurs will drop points and if Liverpool can get their act together there is ground that can be retrieved.  If they can pull in Ruud van Horsey Mouth in a January free and get the wonded back on track, with a few good results they can make up a lot of ground.  17 points out of the 21 points available before the end of the year and I think that would leave Liverpool sitting much better.  That allows for 2 draws against Arsenal and Villa but it would be amazing if they could actually win those especially the home one against the Gunners.  It is a big ask but a win over the Bitters at the weekend would be a great start.

Good pictures EC.  Seems like Stevie G isn't the player he was, time seems to be catching up with him.

I admire your optimism!

But I do think you're right. If (and who knows) the injuries clear up I think we should eventually find some form. We really need a big performance against Everton.

Behave, he's only back from injury and has had a stop start season. I doubt he'd have been pressed into action on Saturday against City only there is so many players missing/coming back from injury. Thought he was moving better last night on a heavy pitch and could have had a couple of goals.

Give him a few weeks and he'll be back to himself, no doubt.

I suppose it's better than never being the player some people thought you were a la Rooney.  8)

I was in a pub yesterday and a guy came in with a lovely little Labrador.
I asked what its name was and the guy said Liverpool!
"Why would you call a dog Liverpool?" I asked.
"Well" said the man "Every time Liverpool lose, he gets the hump and has a lay down in the corner. Every time Liverpool draw, he stands to attention with his tail wagging"

"What happens when they win?" I asked

He replied "I don't know, I've only had him six weeks"

Will you check with him today to see what the dog does?  ;)
