Much much better tonight. Salah looked sharper, thought Bradley played well also.
First clean sheet since when? The Arsenal game?

Hopefully keep it going now against Real and City.

I'm guessing this place will be devoid of the usual numpties tonight...

Back to basics performance. Definite improvement but lots more needed

More physical, good press and a must win attitude only worry is wurz when he came on, jaysus the lads confidence is on the floor.

The wee gift from Martinez was greatly accepted by Salah, but Villa had hit the post earlier and did cut through the Liverpool press a few times to make chances.

Once the goal went in Villa lost confidence in their tactics and Liverpool grew 10 foot tall.

So the better team lost you think. Salah was handed a gift but all the stats don't back up your analysis.
Maybe if you said Villa persisted in playing out from the back and invited the press when other teams who beat them this year were going long and Liverpool struggled with those kick outs. Emery got his tactics wrong and played into Liverpool's hands.

To an extent it's a bit of both.

Villa's tactics worked when they got it right, but they didn't get it right enough to persist with it when it was obviously hurting them with giving up goal chances of their own.
Villa started well but that Salah goal and even the earlier offside goal from Ekiteke was an early warning they didn't heed.
Better team won, but Liverpool are still work in progress defensively as Villa were able to expose once in a while.

What about this evening?

Excellent performance. Would have been 4 only for Courtois.
Bradley absolutely had Vini Jr in his back pocket all night.
And Wirtz has entered the chat....

Looking a wee bit better these past couple of games. The return of Robertson has made a huge difference, as has the step up in form by Bradley. Maybe Slot has learned that some new players need to be eased into it and learn what's needed to make the step up, just like Klopp did with Robertson and Fabinho back in the day. Hopefully that win tonight will also give them a good shot of belief to go to City and then hopefully beyond and put in some strong performances. They could easily lose to City regardless, but performance is the main thing.

Think the Trent reaction is over the top. Yeah, boo like f**k during the match, but the (presumably ) young bellends who vandalized his wall are brain dead scum. He earned his spot.

Excellent performance last night and fully worth the win.  Defence looking alot more solid, which has been helped by going back to basics with the same midfield as last year and getting Robertson in for Kerkez.

Wirtz playing off the left last night allowed to get him in the team without disrupting the balance of the midfield.  His better performances have been in Europe so Slot may bring Gakpo in on Sunday.

Szobozlai has really stepped it on this year, which may have something to do with the signing of Wirtz as at the start of the season I would have thought he would been the player to make way.
