I would love to see Aqua stay but can't see how he and RM can be accommodated.  They will both be looking to push on for places in their respective squads for Euro 2012 and I can't see them getting enough gametime.  Of the two I would prefer to keep AA as RM's value is highest at the minute as he has come off the back of a good season.  AA though may be worth more and his cameo last night and his recent performances have been very encouraging.  I reckon if Sniejder joins the Mancs then either player would be an ideal replacement for Inter.

The Enrique deal at that kind of money would be excellent, Ashley just wants to pocket money the greedy fecker.  A new CB would be a great way to finish the summer spending and I believe that Dann will join.  May not be as good as Cahill but you can never underestimate the extra 10-20% that a local lad will give for his home team.  I reckon longterm he would be a cracking signing.

Bingo

Reports that Arsenal are in preliminary talks with Dann. I'd hope Kenny has him or Cahill in his sights and will be moving soon. Perhaps he is happy with Carra, Agger and Skrtel for this season with Soto/Kelly as backup.

I would doubt he is happy enough with what we have. Carra would probably be heading towards being a back up player and Agger can't be trusted to be fit for a long run of games. We need someone else in there to challenge for a starting place.

I agree. A CB is a priority before the window closes. Agger is made of glass, Skrtel has gone backwards in the last 2 years and both Carra and Soto would have trouble keeping up with an asthmatic pensioner. I don't think Kelly has played a senior game at centre back even though it's his preferred position.
Any one of Cahill, Shawcross or Dann would do me.

I'd be hoping that the front 6 would hold onto the ball and score so many goals that we don't have to be overly worried about the back 4  ;)

I think Skrtel really improved in later half of season and was solid. Carra will be solid if unspectatular, i'd still trust him for this season, Agger will get games and rest. Soto is backup and nothing more if needed. Kelly will have to get games there at some stage - Carling cup and is an option.

I'd like to see a CB coming in but for me it not an essential siging at this stage, could wait till January.

Kelly played CB in one of the pre season friendlies. I think it was Galatasary. He wasn't great and I don't think he would be ready for a full starting role in that position. He is one for the future though

Bingo

Yeah, seen that game and he looked as uncomfortable as anyone, mind you what was alongside and infront of him? Big difference in playing in a second XI and slotting in alongside a first choice team in competitive mode. I'd hope at some stage in the season he is giving the chance to do so.

Phil McNulty (BBC) tweeted that Enrique is having a medical today, excellent bit of business.

Good news on Enrique. It's been a good summer so far in relation to players coming in. We could do with a few going the other way.. Poulsen, Cole, Degen, Insua.

The Raul Meireles situation is really strange for me. We were being told he was injured but he came on for Portugal last night and hasn't figured lately for us at all. I am hearing murmurings of a contractual dispute behind the scenes and it wouldn't surprise me if he was to leave by the end of the window. After last season there should be more than a few interested and we should get a decent price - around 13m I would have thought!

Delighted about Enrique, you'll find Insua shipped out now.

I believe the craic with Merieles is that he is due a hefty payrise this year depending upon appearances. It was agreed with Purslow and the current owners don't like the deal and are lookig to change it. I honestly see him shipped out before the end of August as he will bring in more moolah than AA. He also was given AAs number last summer and maybe they are waiting until the contract is sorted before giving AA his number back.

Think the plan is to move Cole on and sell either Aqualiani or Meireles and buy a centre-half with the money (Dann or Cahill?). Thing is though with Arsenal looking like they are going to have a pile of money to spend from selling Fabregas and Nasri it seems Dann is also on their radar. No doubt he'd pick Liverpool ahead of Arsenal given a choice but with a move from us depending on moving players out of club then Arsenal will have a head start on that one. Cahill then would probably be close to twice as expensive as Dann.

No european football this season so pool can go all out & win the league cup? first up 2nd round tie away to Exeter city.
The key to success is to be consistently competitive -- if you bang on the door often it will open

Bingo

While league not a priority no reason they can't get a decent run gong and use it to blood some of the fringe players on a regular basis ie flanagan, Kelly, Robinson, pacheo, spearing, etc

Reading one of forums and a poster who has been spot on all summer suggests that CB remains a big target, not given up on Dann but cahill is also in frame. Owners happy to back kenny and commoli, who are getting on brillantly to date, both very supportive with each other and this has impressed the owners.

Sky also reported a 4m bid for Ngog from Bolton. I'd throw in poulsen to seal the deal !
