Quote from: podge on March 06, 2025, 09:20:05 AMWhat a result but very long way to go in this tie.  PSG were hugely impressive last night and will rightly to go to Anfield with a lot of confidence.

In fairness the subs last night had a positive impact all round.

Felt we struggled hugely in midfield and seemed to be totally overrun, particularly down out left side.

Slot was right in his post match interview, they held on by the skin of their teeth in the first half, make no mistake about that, second half though they restricted PSG to shots outside the box, some were great shots though and Allison was equal to them.
The two fullbacks got more cover from the midfielders and they all dropped a good bit deeper to deny the wingers space.

PSG were never going to score from a corner, too small for that apart from the one wee sneeky one at the near post...

I think Liverpool will grind them down again at Anfield for another 1-0 win to go through.

First goal going to be huge in second leg, if Liverpool get it makes things more difficult for PSG to come through if PSG score first could be a very nervy night and wouldn't rule out penalty shootout.  This version of PSG certainly easier to like more than the version with the three galacticos upfront.

Salah won't have a bad game gain, reading the reports he wasn't on form and subbed, can't see him doing that at home

Would be expecting a very different Liverpool at Anfield and probably some tweaks to the formation to close down the spaces more in midfield - just get another body in there! But PSG are obviously going to be very dangerous on the break. We need the ball to stick more up front - it was being coughed up by Salah and Diaz too easily and allowed PSG to keep their attacks going.
That's just, like your opinion man.

Salah on Ramadan til end of March.

He'll not be much use for evening fixtures until then.

Man scored in a champions league final during Ramadan. He will be 100%

Quote from: statto on March 06, 2025, 09:07:12 AMHeard a debate that Allison best keeper the league has ever had, I personally would put Schemeichel and Cech (pre head injury) ahead of him.

That hoor pre-injury was out on his own at the time, imperious, he never made a mistake

Allison, Schemichel, Cech hard to look past as a top 3

Honourable mention to Shay Given and Van Der Sar to complete the top 5

I think you'll see the midfield 4 diamond in the 2nd leg and hopefully Gakpo fit. Jones in for Jota and Gakpo for Diaz and this is a different game.

Allison was beyond outstanding last night. The best keeper I've ever seen for the club and the current best in the world.

I would be resting Robbo, Grav and if possible one of MacAllister or Szob at the weekend. Give Chiesa a start perhaps, or at least get minutes. Get a few early goals hopefully and sub off

They seem to have totally changed policy from galaticos to more young French players.

For anyone who has played football manager the team has a great look about it.

Alot of Portuguese players too. For a small country Portugal are producing some serious talent at present.

lol just a little touch of revisionism. he scored a penalty after 2 mins, then along with Mane and Sissoko stank the place out for the rest of the match.

Both Grav and Szob were as poor as they've been all year last night. A rest is needed there alright.
Keep your pecker hard and your powder dry and the world will turn.

They had a full week off before the game last night.
Tomorrow is not guaranteed

Psg sporting director having a full blown tantrum in the tunnel at van djik. They may not get over this before the return fixture.
