Story on This Is Anfield today that the club refused to refund the ticket prices for 300 Atletico fans who did the responsible thing (unlike so many others, both Spanish fans and the various authorities) and decided at the last minute NOT to travel to Anfield. Apparently in and around 15K pounds in total.

Someone needs to get their head out of their arse in the admin side of the club. Of course they're not legally obliged to issue a refund, but FFS! Madness.

When you think you're fucked you're only about 40% fucked.

square_ball

Credit where credits due to Liverpool for reversing their decision. Can't see Ashley and Levy following suit but probably says more about them as individuals.

laoislad

What's trailer and manfromdelmonte going to be outraged about now??? ;D

Someone really is desperately looking for any pathetic excuse to put the boot in. If you really care about profiteering during this Covid outbreak, then there's far more obvious and depressing cases here in Ireland than an english club not refunding match tickets for a game played.

As you are so passionate about the plight of the spanish fans can you confirm if they received a full refund for the flights they didn't take and the hotels/B&Bs they didn't use?

Kudos to LFC for doing the right thing and deciding not to enter the government refund scheme. It's just disappointing it had to be pointed out to them. Shows how modern football is now so financially driven

this isn't something for liverpool fans to crow about ffs, it's an embarrassing climbdown by the club. It's a welcome and correct move but let's be real they only done it because they were shamed into it.
By the way someone should check on John Barnes who spent all day trying to justify the clubs decision to furlough staff, which showed how out of touch he was.

In fairness anybody that questioned Liverpool's decision to avail of the scheme were bang on...

Embarrassing from day 1...shame on all the other clubs but by the way they are ran not overly surprising....Liverpool are much better than that...

Thankfully the U Turn has been performed but it's been a complete PR disaster...

I'm a diehard Liverpool fan.

This was a dumb, cheap move under the circumstances (especially with Klopp having gotten justifiably stroppy with a Madrid journalist on the topic of people coming in from Spain in the pre-match press conference), and topped off a few days of poor judgement, the worst of which, as you say, has now been rectified.

Everyone question it. The trolls I mentioned didnt give a fcuk about it but saw it as an opportunity to have a dig.
Same lads will now find a way to be outraged about this u turn. It should actually be pretty hilarious to see how they find a way to still be annoyed over this.

Anyway, they were wrong, recognised it and changed their approach. Fair play to them for once again listening to the fans and players and changing their minds.
Time to move on.

Refrained from commenting on this until now. Hopefully the vile trolls will crawl back into the hole they came from. Cheap cheap cheap shots.

It was a questionable decision in the first place indeed. However it did not impact on any other business who applied for the scheme. The scheme is not capped or limited. Agree the right decision has been made, but there was a gross overreaction to the whole episode which has what has lead to the Uturn ultimately.

Unless it was to the detriment of anyone else, my mind would not be changed.

Fair play for having the balls to change your mind.

F you to the people incessant on running our club down.

What about the ex-players and fan organizations who raised a stink about it and forced the club into the climb-down?

At least they're willing to back down when they're called out on an obviously poor decision, just like they did with the ticket prices a few years back.

Any word from Daniel Levy and Mike Ashley yet?

GiveItToTheShooters

Fair play to the club, right decision in the end. The morals of the club are more important.

Boycey

Welcome to our world lads ... Everything is fair game but you get used to it after a while.

Anyway it's a backhanded compliment..

manfromdelmonte

It was a stupid, stupid decision in the first place
Especially to save 1.5million over 3 months, after the club has spent 20million on agents fees in the last few years

If Everton did the same I'd be the first to call them out about it.
The two clubs are run a lot differently

Great to see they actually listen to the fans.
Mistake made, fans express anger, mistake rectified.
Can't ask for anymore than that apart from hopefully lessons are learned from this.
