Unusual, you'd expect DVLA to be cheaper. Work through a reputable seller and there should be zero difference.

There has been some explosion of them in the last few years, I would say nearly every second or third plate you see is personalised

Hi MR2 ( nice plate....£20 grand all day long)!

If you want a specific plate you are best contacting DVLA directly.

If it's a serious number they'll put it in their live auction for you.
If it's not so valuable it's likely to go in their online auction.

If you're not that fussy pick an unusual number.
Two digits plus initials nearly always significantly cheaper that one digits.
I got 12 plus my initials for 2 and a half including all the fees.
11 is always really expensive.
Avoid any combination with repeated 8 in it. The Chinese love these and bid them to stupid money.

Anything with name in it will be mad money.
I looked at getting someone a present to celebrate last year, their initials and then 24 SAM and it was mad money.
