I know Maroon Heaven GDA, pm me and I will be in Belfast tomorrow ad could pass on a message to him. Havent seen him on the board for quite a while now. In fact I might even have his mobile no somewhere.

Havent been to citigolf meself, but always meant to try it out (for the laugh).

How accurate is this simulator?
Is it a proven way to improve your game or just a bit of fun?

They aren't accurate at all. Played there one night and hit two shots in a row and both were identical and connected perfectly with the ball. The first shot rolled a few feet in front of me and the second flew 80 yards past the green. The mats there are all sunken into the ground due to use so you really need to use one of the rubber tees. Clubs provided aren't great either but you can hardly expect the best of the best. Its good enough craic but would be better if the simulators were more accurate and you didnt have to swing 4-5 times for your shot to register on the computer. Also stay clear of the left hand screen as you dont have that much room for swinging the longer clubs. Food is poor, was there for a work nite and was supposed to have got a plate of stuff for 6 people and it would hardly have done two.

There is one in Swords which seems very good. If you're into the statistics of golf.

E.g it gives you swing speed and ball speed and they swear that the depiction of where your ball goes is accurate, so you get the distance the ball has carried. Then a replay shows exactly how your club face was lined up when it struck the ball.

You'd probably get most benefit if you were havign a lesson from the pro who is there, but even on your own it can be useful to find out what distance you hit all of your clubs and to see what your swing speed to know what shaft you should get on your driver (from reading on the internet it seems generally over 90mph = stiff, under 90 mph = regular).

Its dear enough though. €20 for 30 minutes or €35 for an hour I think. Type a thing you might do once a year, or if you're getting a new set of clubs and you want them custom fitted.
