In fact, most of Cavan poster couldn't be arsed to comment on the match - me included. We are looking to '09 with a new manager and with that maybe some new hope. I was going to travel to the game but when I heard some of our main men were on the piss last weekend I decided I was going to stay at home and do some gardening.

Hope the weather is good for that.

We're re-building and there is a real feel of doom and gloom and everyone just wants to get on with the club championship. Louth were in similar disarray to Cavan last season and they came away from Newbridge with a worthy victory..

Kildare have lots of injuries and no confidence, anybodys game.

I'm in Limerick on a stag so won't see the game myself, might not be a bad thing.....

The hurlers are playing Westmeath before hand, so there might actually be a decent crowd at the game......

The Kildare team that has been named. Quite a few changes from the Wicklow debacle albeit some positional changes.
Mc Loughlin would want to repay the faith shown in him infact alot of players will have to. Looking forward to the Lillies being back in action and heres hoping they perform to there full potential

Under-fire Kildare manager Kieran McGeeney wants his team to stand up and be counted in Saturday's All-Ireland qualifier against Cavan.

McGeeney is disgusted with the perception that the Lilywhites were seen as one of the soft touches in the qualifier draw, and wants his players to prove to their critics that they are not "a bunch of cowards".

He said: "I would say when the draw was made most of the teams were probably looking for ourselves or Roscommon.

"We've to accept that and it's really up to ourselves to change that. The perception is out there, whether the people of Kildare like it or not, you only have to read the papers. There are articles written all year - it's not me that's writing it. Basically, they're calling Kildare a bunch of cowards. There's a time in somebody's life, and sometimes you just have to . . ."

McGeeney insists that Kildare have moved on from the Wicklow debacle, but admits to being still concerned at the team's low scoring rate.

"If you can't get more than 11 scores, every team in Ireland can live with you. Our passing was pretty poor (against Wicklow). We won a lot of possession as we have been doing all year around the middle but just couldn't convert it into decent ball into our forwards.

"Even defensively, there were some key decisions that weren't good and some indisciplined tackling. It probably wouldn't have taken a football genius to work out why we got beat but I suppose it's how you pick that up and move it forward, and address it." Paul Grimley says Kildare are desperate to redeem themselves after their disastrous Leinster SFC first round loss to Wicklow all of nine weeks ago.

The Lilywhites will finally get that chance when they face Cavan - a team Grimley was previously associated with - in the opening round of the All-Ireland qualifier series at Newbridge on Saturday. But the Kildare assistant manager insists that Donal Keogan's men will be no pushovers.

"With 16 teams in the draw there was a slim enough chance of drawing Cavan but knowing Cavan as I do, they'll be happy with this draw," he said.

"Both teams are at the same level at the minute to be honest but Cavan losing to Armagh was not as big a shock as Wicklow beating Kildare.

"Our fall was greater than theirs. I spent one year with Cavan and got on well with them. They have good players and are capable of going out and putting in a performance against anybody.

"Last year in the qualifier against Mayo, we took the game to them in the first half so I know Cavan are certainly capable of going to Newbridge and doing the same.

"Kildare will be well warned, that's for sure. I have told the players that this is a dangerous game for us."

Taken from the Kildare website, looks like we'll be fired up, actually hopeful for Saturday now, nothing like a bit of fighting talk to rally the spirits....

I have no confidence in Cavan at the minute, management is a shambles and the players have a bad attitude.

I'm kinda hoping that we get bet tomorrow evening because if we manage to fluke a win the club championship will be put on hold.
