Ros, a player like Cussan will always cause difficulty, he has a decent amount of football in him and he's huge. What myself and Blast are trying to say is Kilcullen recovered well and showed good character to eventualy do a decent job on him. I can't think of any other member in the panel (except Brady) that would have been as effective. He will have learned alot from marking a player like that, you could even see as the game went on he got alot cuter and started leaning into Cussan and stopping him winning clean ball. Anyway, don't want to dwell on it too much as I see your point that at the end of the day 2-2 of the Cork scores came from the big man one way or another. Harte and Moran both had fine games aswell, especially Harte, Andy was a bit wasteful once or twice but again he was another man that came good. As it happens Harte was one of the few that sort of turned up last Sept and Moran was only a sub so I woudn't really class them as the old guard. One worrying thing was the run around Liam O'Maille got, I thought he had sorted one of our corner back positions, but he got a roasting the last night, do you think it was just an off-night or was he simply on a player he couldn't handle?

I won't repeat what has been said earlier, one comment that I disagree with.....

Kilcullen may seem to have done well enough but the man he was marking was directly responsible for 2 goals or to put in another way he doesnt look like he could have handled donaghy last september and cussen isnt actually much of a footballer to begin with.

How can you say that Cussen isin't much of a footballer. He scored 1-1. Won 3/4 scored frees. Laid on other scores. When the ball into him dried up Cork found scoring very difficult. Even when he couldn't catch the high ball it was invariably broke down creating opportunities for those foraging. It is a nightmare for a smaller man (Kilcullen is probably 5" smaller ?) when decent ball is coming in. Kilcullen improved as the match went on because the quality ball didn't continue.

Thought we showed magnificent spirit, pace and footballing ability at times during the game. John O is moulding a stong unit at the moment and is actively seeking to rectify our previous failings. He is of course restricted as every manager is by who is available to him, but I must admit to being encouraged by his and his management team's input to date. The main worry I have is the ability of our midfielders to win primary posesession, this leaves us vulnerable to the Donaghy/Cussen threat to a much greater extent. Hopefully McGarrity and Brady will be back ASAP to counter this.

I heard that Brady is expected to return for the Dublin game on Sunday.
