Noel O'Leary and now Paudie Kissane call it a day.

Pearse O'Neill has retired now as well.

Thought he was a lot younger than 33 but he did break through quite late.

Syferus

Sounds like Cork and Kerry could name a handy enough team of retired players right now.

Sheehan away to the AFL too. Not looking good for Cork next season!

Zulu

That's a disaster for Cork, you can now right them off as All Ireland contenders. This news could even push a few into the arms of the hurlers.

rodney trotter

He is huge loss for Cork. He had a trial a few years ago but turned it down, obviously changed his mind now. Should do well in AFL.

They weren't looking like AI contenders with or without Sheehan.

Serious brain drain in Cork and coupled with O'Niell's injury Cuthburt would probably settle for threading water in his first season.

From the Bunker

Cork are still 4th favourites with Paddy Power for the AI at 15/2. They are ahead of Donegal and Miles ahead of Tyrone in the betting? Weird! Suppose it's to do with Munster being so soft and being guaranteed a last 12 spot at worst!

If Cuthbert can sew water the All Irel should be a cakewalk  ;D

Is there anybody left playing ? This man is only 28.

Cork midfielder Alan O'Connor has announced his retirement from the inter-county scene, adding to the list of players that have already called time on their Rebel footballing career.

O'Connor's decision is something of a surprise, given that he was included in the pre-season panel named by new manager Brian Cuthbert.

The 28-year-old, who has been on the panel since 2008, was an All-Ireland winner in 2010 and is also the holder of four Allianz League medals

With Ciarán Sheehan going to Aussie Rules, this latest announcement is a further blow to Cuthbert in his preparation for 2014.

Graham Canty, Pearse O'Neill, Paudie Kissane, Noel O'Leary and Alan Quirke have alll called time on their county careers in the last few weeks.

Between Manager and Players, Cork nearly have a clean break from the old squad. Could be the making or more so breaking of them!

Fuzzman

A cork lad sitting near me reckons the squad don't have much belief in the new manager. They think he's much the same as Counihan and that most of the panel don't have any confidence in his ways.

We've been waiting for lots of retirements from Kerry but it seems Cork seem hell bent in upstaging them.

blanketattack

I hear there's imminent news on another Cork player going to Oz.

Syferus

Aidan Walsh is going dual next year on top of everything else, it will certainly limit his availability to the footballers.
