Martin Clarke is about three times the player Aaron Kernan is. That's got to be one of the most blinkered comments I've ever read.

well shea if you think that armagh havent been a force over the last ten years i think you dont know much. had you been at any of the ulster finals  you'd know the orchard won the most of them even last year when they were a spent force they still landed the anglo celt, 7 out of 9 counties won nothing. young clarkes dairy from down under was entertaining because it was awful stuff, there are only so many ways to say your training hard and the weathers good and kevin dyas is injured and your homesick.. i have'nt said anything bad about the lad merely pointed out that he has a long road to go as have down

clarkes no better than arron kernan was at his age

ps tg4 just did a programme about the rivalary between tyrone and armagh maybe shea you could get it... ;)

Armagh did not win the Anglo-Celt last year.

How many All-Ireland finals did armagh play in from 2000-2005 and from 2006-2010.

I would be correct in saying:

2000-2005: 2
2006-2010: 0

Hardly a "force".
i usse an speelchekor

i'll resist the temptation to point out the arron kernan has a considerable haul of trophies including young player of the year.
1. hes a play maker
2. hes a free taker
3. hes allowed to roam the pitch. free man
4. hes got both feet
5. hes got a brother on the team
sound familar?

Which is part of the problem with Armagh football currently. He is no more a play maker than Finbar McConnell.

All except this bit.
If you were any use you'd be playing.

Think he has two feet alright, otherwise he mite find it a bit hard to walk/run/balance while kicking with his one foot

He has two feet but he rarely uses his right foot.

lawnseed - you said a serious force, winning Ulsters aren't worth a f**k if you aren't going to do anything at the business end of the year .

i said tyrone or armagh, no one has said anything about tyrone. i also said over the last 10 years. 99 to 03 only teams that beat armagh went on to win sam meath galway kerry and tyrone. kerry semi final two goes in what are considered to be classic games. ulsters are'nt worth anything tell that to fermanagh, monaghan, antrim, down, cavan, derry, donegal. are there any players in these current teams with ulster medals? has marty clarke a senior ulster medal? has he a senior medal of any description? if down are to improve on 2010 they will need more then just luck and marty clarke

Yeh maybe they will need a strong backroom team, excellent goalkeeper, versatile and attacking half backs, two strong solid ball winning midfielders, and two or three of the best forwards in the country...oh wait...they displayed all of these traits this season as well! There was a lot more than just luck and marty clarke that got down to where they were this year my friend! Yes they can do with improving a few areas naturally but what team doesn't! Not saying they will win an AI next year but they won't be far away if they produce and build on the form of this year.

ps clarke had been about senior inter county footall for one season...of course he has a lack of silverware at this level.

Applesisapples

SS your comments about your mid field don't stack up. When up against serious opposition in MF Down were cleaned out. Clarke has good potential, but it is apparent that he on his own won't carry Down to number 6. Benny's granny syndrome I fear.

supersub

Fair enough but I believe when Ambrose and King were paired together they played extremely well and have every chance against any other midfield pairing!
