Derry are serial underperformers. Is this likely to change?
In terms of winning things probably not. Promotion out of Div 2 and an Ulster final appearance would probably be seen as a job well done in Barton's 2 years. We simply don't have the players that the likes of Dublin and Kerry have.
His biggest problem will be getting the players to play with each other. There is huge club rivalry in our county and arguments seem to seep into the county team.

To me that's just a lazy easy excuse. I don't think there is a bigger club rivalry in Derry than the majority of other counties. Look at Tyrone club football I don't think there is any love lost between the clubs, Carrickmore,Errigal, Clonoe, Coalisland, Dromore,Omagh, Ardboe but they seem to be able to pull together alright.

I think the big problem is that an awful lot of players in Derry have no real desire to play for the county team and even some of the lads who do could take it or leave it.
That's kind of my point, Derry don't pull together. I don't think Tyrone footballers are of a higher standard than in Derry but they make the most of what they have, unlike we do.

Agree that the desire/want isn't always there, club comes first.
