Not a hope he'll be there 3 years
Explain............

2 main reasons IMO ...
O'Rourke will be gone from Armagh in 2 years minimum - McG won't be able to resist another call from Armagh without it looking suspiciously like he doesn't want it at all.
Kildare won't continue on the upward rise for 3 years, so I can't see him staying long term.

The term used when announcing managerial appointments recently has been that such and such a manager has "accepted / agreed a new deal" -

What does this mean ? Does it mean that they've agreed a contract ala soccer managers etc ?.

Surely not ?.

Come to think of it, it's been used in relation to Mc Geeney today and Mick O'Dwyer yesterday.

MCMLX

Why would McGeeney take the Armagh job at any time in the next few years? He is on a winner with Kildare, they are happy with him, he is making progress year on year. He has no real pressure. If he were to take the Armagh job, people would expect miracles overnight. It would be the second coming of the messiah to some. There would be unreal expectations on him and a lot of unnecessary pressure. With more retirements to come soon with the likes of Stevie going he wont have a great panel to work with. If he has any sense he will leave well enough alone.

Didn't you predict Tieyerown would win Sam the year?  That went well, didn't it?

Hadn't realised she was your aunt too!  :D
You were so far off with your prediction earlier this year about Tieyerown that you couldn't be right now in saying that about Armagh.  It's all about opinions though.  I am not sure why you feel the need to try and put people down who disagree with you?  Apart from the fact that you were wrong and you don't like being reminded of it

WTF, is that poster your kid brother or something!  ???

He made a remark about how something might have happened but didn't in the past; I made a prediction of something that may happen but didn't in the future (but hey, I make the same unerring prediction every year, so hardly headline news!).

Get over it FFS... "put people down...", yeah right precious!

Kieran McGeeney has agreed to a new 3 year deal to stay on as Kildare manager until 2013:

Great news

Sure I told you this 5 days ago  ;)

But great news, want to see Brian Murphy in as u21 manager....

I'm not 100% convinced by Brian yet. I think we should have won at least a Leinster with the quality of player we've had at minor level over the last two years. Obviously we were only the kick of a ball away from it last year but I think we made harder work of Dublin than we should have this year. The u21s next year should be competitive so it's important the right appointment is made. I'd like to see either O'Rourke or Carew involved with them at some level.

I heard a rumour that Paul Cribbin is having second thoughts about going Down Under too.

I know what you are saying about Murphy but I think the structures and players he has brought through merits his involvement the 21s, O'Rourke would be a good shout, Niall though is just a numer two with little input into sessions, takes a heavy workload of McGeeney.

I'd like to see Cribben go and then if it doesn't work come back ala Nuxer...

It's rumoured that Rainbow will be given some sort of role within the setup. He could be the man to liase between the 21s and the senior management.

I don't know what the story is with Cribbin just heard a few rumours that he's not certain to go to Collingwood anymore. It was heartening over the weekend to see the likes of Moolick, Dowling, Pádraig Fogarty and Darroch Mulhall doing so well at senior club championship level. I'd happily give Brian Murphy a chance with the 21s given that he'll know them inside out at this stage but I think it's important there's someone from the senior setup working alongside him.
There's Seán Brady going in, what dya think Seán?

strange mc geeney is getting 3 more years with no silverware to show so far. I'd have said 1 more would have been fair enough.

theres no way paddy o's gonna survive 2011 unless he pulls something out of the hat, clubs are unhappy with the way the whole peter mcdonnell--paul grimely-- paddy o' thing was handled. supporters are unhappy with the style of play. were geezer to land a leinster or a league title? o'rourke wouldn't get time to lift his tracksuit! Quite a few armagh people attended the semi final to support keiran and indeed went on to kildare afterwards.. here in orangeville he's  a legend, people want him for taoiseach.. whether or not he'd be able to manage armagh to success is impossible to say

Just because my opinions do't coincide with you two fine upstanding citizens of Carrickmore and Strabane doesn't mean they are wrong, there is no right or wrong with opinions they are just that........... opinions and we are all entitled to them. But given my experiences with people from those areas of Tyrone from which you come, and the nature of your posting to date I am not sure you will understand my point.

If you're trying to imply that i'm stupid for not understanding you should maybe look after your own house first. My post was in reference to a point made by ardmhacaabu which he made in response to Fear on Srath Ban and was not in reference to anything you said earlier  :D :D Try to keep up ;)

In 12 months it'll be interesting to see what the Kildare view is of him
