why is there still nothing happening in the North West

Had the result of the first count and then nothing

Declan Ganley wanted a recount of the bundles late last night.  Don't know why it's taking so long now. TV3 just reporting that the recheck has lowered Ganley vote by 3,000!

3,000 that seems like a lot, how could it be wrong by so many ?

Each candidates votes where sorted in to bundles of 1,000. It looks like 3 were placed in the wrong place.

The only election that matters has been won. Emma Kiernan has been elected to Newbridge Town Council!

I cant find any record of this, someone asked at lucnh and i said she was elected but she inst named on any council seat and newbridge doesnt have its own section. Anyone track her down?

I am glad to report that the momentous "Boobgate'' affair did not destroy the political career of Emma Kiernan in Newbridge, Co Kildare. Close observers of this election campaign will recall that the Fine Gael candidate was featured in a less-than-statesmanlike pose on a friend's Facebook page on the internet.

As a result of the sexually suggestive but playful frolics portrayed in the photo, the candidate for Newbridge Town Council received more coverage on the internet than any other candidate in the local elections.

It is hard to imagine Liam Cosgrave engaged in such libidinous revelry, but the electors of Newbridge clearly like this type of thing.

She was elected on the sixth count. One pundit suggested, "Boobgate definitely pushed her over the top'.'

Regrettably in the more prudish enclaves of Dublin 4, the naked poet Erik Eblana did not enjoy any similar uplift in support.

After posing with nothing more than a ukulele to guard his modesty, Erik received just 285 votes.

Why did Christy Burke quit Sinn Fein 3 days after the election result? He stood in the bye election and won a seat in Dublin Cily Council. What's going on in Dublin Sinn Fein?
