No,the irony is that OWC player became a priest, and not a Republic player.I cannot think of one such candidate from the Republic squads since perhaps the 1970s, I believe Ray Treacy's brother was either a priest or a Christian Brother.

Also I note the many good wishes Fr Mulryne has received from non Catholic OWC fans.I suspect if Seamus Coleman was to announce he was to study for the priesthood tomorrow, he would be written off as some sort of freak by his fans down South.

If a post ever summed up Anthony, read the above.

Yes, somehow an ex-NI footballer becoming a priest is proof that all freestaters are bastards. More than that though, the bastards' footballers can't realise their dreams of becoming priests for fear of being labelled freaks by their fans.

Your suspicions amount to paranoia at this stage, Tony.
Why do you think anybody down here should object to Coleman following his judgement and doing what he damn well pleased.

Nope. Still don't get it ? Crystal meth now?
None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought. Ea

Maybe there is a vast untapped source of vocations in the Ireland Soccer squad that the Catholic Church has completely missed!

As a gesture of support to players secretly wishing to don the cloth, I think for this WC campaign, the supporters should sing 'We all dream of a team of Fr. Gary Breens' followed by a rousing rendition of 'Come on ye boys in Cassocks'!

Isn't it ironic that an OWCer is manager of the Republic of Iteland soccer team?

Isn't it ironic that the moon actually isn't made of cheese. That's OWCs fault...and the free staters. St Mother Teresa of Calcutta will doubtless turn it back into cheese now that she has been elevated.

Yep - crystal meth does it.

Applesisapples

Tony has started some crap, insulting and down right provocative threads but this take the biscuit for its crass trolling of southerners and fans of the Irish team best ignored.

smelmoth

To be fair to Tony maybe he genuinely doesn't know the difference between "ironic" and "statistically less likely".

Snow in Forkhill in August would in his view be "ironic"

or possibly a miracle

I think Tony would see a knife in Forkhill as cutting edge irony.
