But some people get great comfort, solace or  other things from religion . And if that gets them  through life  better, then who are us heathens to  criticise them for  that?

Anyway, as the old saying  goes about  proving the existence of God.... Prove  there isn't a God?

On another note, Maintained schools whilst their property is entirely owned by their parish/church they are 100% funded by the state in terms of running costs, salaries etc.

Im with you on the RE part but whats it to you if someone has faith or not?

Faith has and is being used as a reason to 'believe' in something that unfortunately provides false hope in my view, I never said I've a problem with anyone that believes in the fella upstairs, I just don't.

If people go to mass/church and find happiness and find solace in that as well, that is good for them.

But in over 2000 years, there is no concrete evidence that the world was created in so many days, that Adam and Eve started the process and all the other stuff that goes with it, if faith makes you believe that, then all good.

I really think the church does provide a good morale base, but that is about it
