Why would you want them?

Any GAA fan that is worth a f**k would be watching/playing/coaching etc etc with club games this month anyway. Let the armchair fans do what they like.

Agree. If you're put off going to football because the soccer is on (most likely a different time and day) you wouldn't be missing them too much

Most of the GAA fans who turn up for the latter stages of the championship are bandwagon jumpers. The orange faced, white jean girls and their boyfriends.
The hardcore fans who attend club games and the league matches are only about 15%.

Up the club! Great to see the club games in August/September with county players and heading into club championship

Brendan

What are the statistics like, going by Derry club games if you added them all up the following would be bigger than the average support for the county team, would this be representative around the country apart from Dublin where the attendances are piss poor compared to the way they take over Croker come All ireland Semi finals and finals

Truthsayer

Support for Tyrone county team has fallen drastically in recent years. Club scene is vibrant with I think 48 adult football teams (3 very competitive divisions) and good crowds and interest.

Unless a person is unable to go to club games through illness or disability, who gives a sh*t about armchair fans?

I'm sorry, but that's just total bollocks

I'd guess the vast majority are club members - because that's how the tickets are distributed

There'd be a few of course (mostly in the 2 middle tiers) who are there for the day out only

But like others have said - WGAF about them

How come the early rounds of the championship and the league are so sparsely attended so?
There aren't tens of thousands of people lining pitches and making sandwiches in their local clubs on these less glamorous days that means they can only attend the box-office fixtures.

Many factors

Time constraints
Financial constraints
Lack of interest

Being chief amongst them at a guess

What's your point?

Dag Dog

My point is that the GAA's main audience for revenue and attendance are band wagon followers. The people who get interested in their county once the championship heats up.
How many of he tens of thousands going mental for tickets for the big days are anywhere to be seen in April?

We are giving away a lot of July and August where there is a lull in competing sports like the Premier League.
We should be keeping the GAA in the shop window.

We are.

Rossfan

Did any non GAA person become a fan/member/interested because big games were in August as opposed to July??
Play the game and play it fairly
Play the game like Dermot Earley.

They're not to be seen cos they're playing/training/administrating/sitting quietly being members of their club

The GAA is still very much in the shop window for the vast majority of its members, players and volunteers

You and Martin Breheny are just choosing not to look

The GAA is infinitely more than the last 2 games of the All-Ireland series
