P Clifford, D Geaney, and G O'Sullivan aren't 6ft.

Quote from: imtommygunn on July 31, 2025, 12:57:13 PMthe reason why you've never broke through is because you don't have decent forwards. McGuigan is top class but in reality he is the only one. That being said I think Loughlin is massively under rated and Toner adds a lot work rate wise. Murray is never fit and with him being so young the question really is will he ever be. McFaul is not really a forward. Doherty is decent enough but not fantastic.

What do you mean by break through? I think you really mean win the AI because 2 Ulster titles and a division 1 title in the last 4 seasons isn't too bad for a team that you say hasn't broken through. We have far better forwards than we're given credit for. Paul Cassidy has loads of talent and Ethan Doherty is in the top 5 or 6 half forwards in the country when he's fully fit.

Can only 1 team a year break through???!! What does break through mean? I would have though challenging the All Ireland favourites in big games would be breaking through but we were doing that 3 years ago!

That is fair. 2 Ulster Titles. A League title and 2 AI semi-final appearances in the last 4 seasons. Pretty good going. Granted since Gallagher left things have regressed. Hopefully with Meenagh we can get back to the top table.

I do think we are missing that extra forward who can score 5-6 points a game. Murray has the potential if he stays fit.

Armagh don't have two forwards that can do that and they won an AI

Don't think I ever seen a hot shot league table at the end of a season and 1 county has 2 or three players on it. Maybe it has happened with a left and right footed free taker.
Scores were spread as teams attacked in big numbers, rotated etc. Full backs regularly chipping in with goals and points for example

The list of the top 10 scorers from play in the 2025 All-Ireland SFC includes:
2 from Kerry,
3 from Donegal and
2 from Galway.

Kerry didn't play a D1 team for their first 6 games. Galway played New York. Donegal is impressive but they had more games than anyone. Clifford is always going to be up there but otherwise I don't read a lot into the top scorers as Dublin or Kerry players have it much easier in the provincials. In 2023 Shane McGuigan was top scorer in country and second top scorer from play, topped only by Basquel who scored 40 points v Wicklow or something.

In the league do the bottom 2 get relegated or does 14th play 15th in a playoff and 16th automatically relegated?

15th play off against division 2 2nd place and 16th automatically.

Speaking of leagues why have Vale conceded their last game against Lavey?

You need to provide context or people may think you are talking to yourself.

Limavady promoted then with Castledawson relegated and Banagher v Ballinderry in the playoff.

Lissan promoted, Ballerin relegated with Guigan and Doire Trasna in a playoff.

That right?

Correct. Think the play-offs were originally scheduled for 13th August. If so would be a busy 8 days for the Banagher dual players - c'ship hurling on Saturday, play-off Wednesday, c'ship football Sunday. Better a game than training I suppose!
