There are all manner of possibilities here. You really wonder of her role in this. Is she a bad one? Is there a huge element of coercive control? Is there now remorse and this has made her sick. You just wouldn't know.

When iris robinson had her fame she was ill. People didn't believe it but I know people who had dealt with her for a good while before all that came out came out. Not always a lie but I guess it could be.

I'd say anything that goes through government procurement processes gets multiplied compared to the normal market.

Setting aside the £150k for Irish Signs was the £300m Grand Central Station even needed in the first place?

Milltown Row2

You can't have a station that doesn't have a train that goes to Dublin directly.. I've been through it several times it's pretty good and modern in comparison to many stations in other cities

Why was there no executive meeting about the pitch at the school in Derry?

Is that not controversial?

Btw, who decides what's controvertical and what's not?

Wildweasel74

The DUP had no input on the school pitch in Derry, never had, decision took in EA on the work programme, school had been on the backlog 5yrs.

For the pitch renovation that they didn't apply for?

Fair play to Garret Hargan from the Belfast Tele for not letting this story lie ,quote from recent article below ,

"An upgraded football pitch at Lisneal College was prioritised after emails from the school principal and a pitch inspection in 2019 — without the need for a formal application.
Funding approval was ultimately given for the pitch months after a private meeting between the principal, DUP Education Minister Paul Givan, Communities Minister Gordon Lyons and Foyle MLA Gary Middleton in June 2024."

In the long term probably yes (something I've changed my mind on) although it's over cooked on spec as have never seen anyone go upstairs and odd  with open air platforms will long term be a pain. having cross border services finish there is probably right, although I miss the wee man shouting out "Augher Clogher, Fivemiletown" at the Europa station. The choice of a scanned qr ticket system is antiquated.

Removing cross city services though (having to change at GC) is daft.

Lack of oversight on spend and general competence in anything appears to be a major issue across the governing parties, Andrew Muir (who I think is well intentioned) got skewered on radio this morning when asked about urgent action and his response was something along the lines of "I've authorised a consultation". Politicians need to accept they are in charge and make things happened , at both executive and councils level they appear to be led by the nose by officials.

Was Girvan of the DUP and Lyons of the DUP not heavily involved in that decision?

Of course they were , Funding not applied for and EA signed off after a private meeting between School Principal and  Lyons / Given / Middleton
