Mostly just nonsensical slabbering from fools but tiresome none the less.

That same poster blathered about the Cavan teams all year.

Quote from: bennydorano on October 13, 2024, 03:06:28 PMWas the Derry thing not a County board mess? A reorganisation of league structure?

I actually think the Cavan system is a bit of a joke. 'Junior' teams playing (presumably) senior & intermediate standard clubs in Div 1 are being exposed to a consistently higher standard of football all season long. Great for their development but not for others when it comes to the Ulster series. The linking of leagues & championships works in other counties, it is a simple solution to get a level playing field.

That Derry structure is still in place this year so Glenulin were in Intermediate this year again after winning the previous 2 Intermediate championships and Balymacuigan the Junior champions stayed in Junior also.

So don't know how that structure is fair or your making excuses
Im not from Derry, but I'm pretty sure Glenullin kicked up an awful stink about it, not as tho they want to stay in intermediate to have another potential rattle at an Ulster

Brendan

Glenullin threatened to take the county board to court over it, not sure it ever materialised though.

Ballinderry or Faughanvale to represent Derry in Ulster after this weekends games

AI Junior champions and D1 league team Arva walk the Cavan intermediate championship this afternoon

From a county that won the Leinster Junior Championship in 2014 this shouldn't really surprise anyone, embarrassed for all concerned

Guaranteed they down tools next year at SFC level

Armagh Junior final Port Mor v Collegeland ends in a draw 0.11 each, replay req. Entertaining derby game.

Stick to the Man United thread lad not sure you know much about Gaelic football.

Says a lot that Tyrone clowns are jabbering about tiny clubs in Cavan these days. The fall has been dramatic.

Yeah, funny it's only Cavan posters that dont think it's ridiculous that their 3 championship winners last year all came from Division 1 in Cavan.

If you're that obsessed with lowly Cavan football maybe ask your Tyrone manager he'll tell you.

You know the man you're paying 120,000 quid to manage Tyrone. Because yous can't find a man in Tyrone to do it unlike every other county.

But Malachy is in Tyrone and his apprenticeship served outside Tyrone will likely stand us in good sted

What has League got up do with Championship? Championship form for all those teams in prior years had them in the right Championship. League is not the driver in Cavan

Duine Inteacht Eile

I assume every team in the Cavan senior championship would be expected to beat every team in the Cavan junior championship comfortably in a championship game.

I agree that league and championship should not be linked. As long as there's relegation built in to the championship system then it's a fair enough system. Teams should not be forced to compete in a higher grade championship when they're unable to win the lower grade.

In Down for example there were clubs in division 3 who competed in the senior (Glenn - beaten semi finalists), junior (Aughlisnafin - beaten finalists), and the majority at intermediate (including the eventual finalists). In division 4 the league runner up competed at intermediate level (Darragh Cross- beaten semi finalists).

SouthOfThe Bann

League means very little in Cavan club football.

Denn who won division 3 last year got to the intermediate final but no one mentions that.

They got relegated from division 2 this year and still got back to intermediate semi final beaten by a last minute point.
