I'd love to hear Meyler's solution / suggestions.

If it's something simple like e.g club leagues must be wrapped up by August and just proceed without county players, then whilst it might not be popular, at least it's practical.

If it's something else then I'm all ears.

If he's just sounding off though, with nothing much in mind, then he needs to hold his tongue.

APM

Who is making him play? He doesn't have to do it. What is the major problem if he decides to walk away? None that I can see.

If MOR can build a panel of 35 committed players and win an All Ireland and this guy can't give the commitment then what odds? It'll not matter to most.

If MOR can't build a winning panel because too many opt out, then Tyrone supporters may be disappointed, but again, so what?

If the level of commitment required to compete at County level is on the rise, it's only because amateur players are prepared to engage. If more players choose to do less, then standards of S&C will fall, but again so what?

Odds are the paying public will end up with a more entertaining spectacle anyway.

Play the game and play it fairly
Play the game like Dermot Earley.

Whether the split season is a success or a failure, it's a long time between the end of July and the start of the league.

Get yourself to a few club games.

How many adult Championship football and hurling games took place over the last 8 weeks?

I'd say 75 in Roscommon (excluding JBFC).
Could we say 3,000 nationwide ?

Breheny obviously suffering from inter County withdrawal symptoms.
Wants Jarlath to meet with Paraic Duffy to devise a better split season or as he put it
"Real split season alternatives"

Derry championship throws in this weekend.. Will be at about half a dozen games, doesn't get better than that* Breheny!

* especially with the new rules

Captain Scarlet

What kind of contract does Martin Breheny have in the Indo?! He has the same cycle of shite every year. The silly season for him and others would be normally October to January where they'd compile listicles eg 'Best Players never to have won an All-Ireland' but now it's longer.

A lot of the journos hate the split season because the county lads are not sitting there in pressers or sitting down as brand ambassadors for some new energy bar in their studio. James McCarthy names his toghest opponent - lash it up on social media - job done.

God forbid they'd have to find a story or actually pay attention to the grassroots of the game. Blaming the split season for losing coverage while ignoring the irony of their own laziness being a key factor.

Johnny Doyle lined out at 47 for Allenwood in the Kildare SFC. And Christ there are hundreds of amazing angles all over the country. In Kildare the crowds seemed to be up and there will be more with the comfort of the new Conleths too.

them mysterons are always killing me but im grand after a few days.sickenin aul dose all the same.
