McWilliams should be brought up in November for training in any case. Big skilled players aren't that abundant in Derry, reps against good opposition is what he needs. Might never play a role for Derry but it's worth a go.

Shame that D McDermott is out, he would was going very well in league, defending and breaking out at speed. Conleth McGrogan is another all rounder reminds me a lot of CD but he wouldn't commit last year so that's a no go. Clucky has set my standards for a corner back abit too high, as good as it gets imo

Yes big step up in quality between the games. I think Lavey have the quality to play a far higher tempo game. That half back line is as good as anyone in the county.

Ciaran Henry is a top player, I thought Matthew had poor evening as I said but he is a good player. Midfield big and very mobile.

Conor Mc Ateer was superb I thought, he's a massive leader always looking to create something, almost impossible to man mark with his movement.
The speed and aggression Newbridge break out of defense is the template for alot if teams, yes they have some top players but its the work rate. I reckon Conor Doherty sprinted the full length of that pitch close to 8/10 times tonight.

Yep, Cahair O'Kane went on a abit of downer in his latest article there about all these Derry clubs running the ball and not kicking. I don't see why a team like Newbridge wouldn't run it, very athletic and well co-ordinated moving forward

McWilliams pushed Swatragh over the edge with abit of nice fielding and grit, set up the goal. Fitness just wouldn't be there but a poor game really.

Hard to even remember how well they were contested but aye they definitely got them away alright. Newbridge were able to curtail McGuigan and McGonagle from range last year so I do think they can mix up the way they defend.
