Quote from: Milltown Row2 on Today at 09:30:53 AMYeah bit of a own goal, I've no problems with an singer being non political and refusing to provide views on something outside of his job, people can go feck themselves when asking personal views on things to be honest. But... He did a concert or made a political interview on the war in Ukraine..

So either you say nothing or stand up for your beliefs..

May backfire on him, completely out of his control I'd assume as these things are contract ridden and no scope for complete refusal in doing the concerts as its not just his money but everyone on tour and involved in a tour set up that loses out.

Would be a huge breach of contract to I'd say

Surely he could have pushed that costs back onto the Krafts if it is they who are refusing him use of a stadium they'd have been contracted to provide.

He has taken the easy out on this one, no doubt.

Quote from: Armagh18 on Today at 07:48:26 AMHope Sheeran never gets back near Croker anyway.

Seaf- the Israeli's will be delighted at stuff like that- they want people equating Israel with all Jews so they can throw out their accusations of anti-semitism.

I'd give Sheeran a bit of a break on this one.

He knew what having Macklemore on the tour would mean and it was always going to come to this at some point.

I'd have preferred he told Kraft and all the other old Zionist cúnts to stick their stadiums up their holes and point out to his fans in the US that if they think they've freedom in America they are very much mistaken.

In the meantime it's given the genocide in Palestine much more airtime that it was getting state side.

Quote from: Louther on September 14, 2026, 10:19:01 AMWas chatting to a lad who recently moved home from Sydney after 15 years there, wife and two young kids and they'd a decision to make in last few years, commit to Australia with a 1.5m mortgage to buy a property where the wanted to live or move back. They
Moved back.

He said he's been told several times since that he mad as Ireland is finished and all the pubs and nightclubs closed and it not the same. He says it's the exact same in Australia and pubs and clubs he remembers from his early days are long gone and not replaced. People just have different outlooks now everywhere, their social and entertainment habits have totally changed.

In the 90s you went to pubs and nightclubs to meet, enjoy company of people and be entertained. A quiet night was renting a video/DVD or going cinema. Maybe you'd to go to pub to watch a game on Sky.

Now you sit on your couch have multiple conversations and group chats using a device in the palm of your hand. You can instantly watch anything on the TV or online. Sports of all sorts are beamed into the home. The can or bottle of wine is in the fridge if you want.

To be truly entertained you travel to big events, weekends overseas or exotic holidays. In the 90s you might plan a week in Santa Ponsa or Gran Canaria. The all Ireland winners went to the Canary Islands for their team holiday in early spring.

Young people are different now, it's Gyms, saunas, Tinder, Hyrox, Australia, Electric Picnic, Concerts and events. The trip to the pub or a nightclub is too ordinary for them to get excited about.

people used to poop themselves after too much to drink, now they do it at sporting events
That's a real wtf moment that one!

not only that it happened but that she was allowed to continue. You can be DQd in hyrox for spitting on the floor or littering. But shit yourself and spread it all round for others to race through.......

What did I miss?

Quote from: Look-Up! on September 14, 2026, 11:09:32 AMEarly doors yet. Fine margins in sport, Utd hit the woodwork twice so narrative might be very different. But overall Carrick has work to do. Casemiro looks a loss although he couldn't cope with midweek games. The over reliance on Fernandes might be putting him in the same bracket. Played full 90 on Thursday in a game they were cruising at HT, so boss will have to be a bit cuter with his use of him going forward. Simply put when he's on song so is the team.

A lot of complaints about the squad investment from fans, which the manager poured cold water on saying he was happy. So is he the man with the big plan or just naive. Or worse a yes man? He is an employee but ultimately he has to impress upon club hierarchy what the football needs and investment of the club are, and what players shouldn't be around. And part of that is not being afraid to rock the boat and speak your mind when talking about the squad. He'll be sussed out very quick otherwise.
Not sure him coming out and saying the players aren't good enough and we should have spent more in the summer will do anyone any good but you'd like to hope that behind the scenes he is saying they need more investment in several areas.

In the meantime, teams with a fraction of the resources available to Utd are showing the way.

The likes of Brentford, Brighton, Sunderland, Portsmouth all showing what can be done with a bit of coaching, structures and organisation.

How many times over the last decade has Brentford,Sunderland and Brighton finished a league season ahead of Manchester United? Not sure why you threw Portsmouth into the mix when they haven't played in the Premier League since 2010.
Yeah,
Bournemouth was who I meant.

United are not a well run club, from recruitment and beyond.

They buy decent ish players like Cunha and Mbeumo and they then turn to shíte up there and don't give the "it's the weight of expectation when you pull on the jersey" or some other písh.

Trump is a cúnt even if he says something I agree with and has upset the high and mighty up here and over in Blighty which is joyous to see.

He's still a cúnt though, you can't escape that fact.

On another note, it's great to see the SNP, Plaid Cymru and SF having a wee conference to discuss the dissolution of the UK and GB.

The establishment are trotting out the usual attack lines and finances etc.

I'd be happy enough if my wains don't run as much as I did, avoid the hannlins where things could've went very wrong

Same time the odd Fri nite in a pub with the crowd gathered up and the jukebox playing Christy, playing pool for a pound, was hard to bate

Sure it was character building all those close scrapes in your mid to late teens and beyond.

I'd great craic back then, my parents knew SFA about some of those goings on and I'd hope my kids have similar experiences I don't need to know about.  ;)

Heading off to concerts in London, Cork, Slane with the lads you grew up with and not 2d in your pockets, just a shitty tent that leaked like fúck and a bus ticket there and back again.

Plenty of boxing along the way in various places, the odd black eye with scrapes and bruises all too common.

Antrim / Re: Antrim Hurling

I wondered why a certain gentleman was very quiet ( not like him), he's too busy making sure the quill has plenty of ink on this one.

He'll be sitting down with Totes, reviewing the disciplinary handbook (10th edition), the Official Guide Part 1 and whatever bylaws are in Antrim ensuring whatever they come up with stick if it comes to appeals etc.

On a serious note, not entirely sure how it kicked off on the field, a water carrier is getting a lot of blame, but it really grates on me the number of hangers on allowed inside the fence that when the players do go at it seem to think they need to get involved and in my experience it only ever makes things worse.

"Breaking it up" seems to involve putting hands on an opposition player, fúck off with that one, it pure BS, pull out your own player if you want to break it up.

Quote from: Blowitupref on September 13, 2026, 06:37:27 PMOne of the lowest quality Manchester Derbies I've ever watched. All the red card did in the end was probably prevented a bigger margin of defeat for the home side.

On saying that it's since confirmed the games only goal should not have stood.

Actually thought the red card hurt United, as City just say back and United were clueless on how to break them down. They had been alright up til that

It's not as if they hadn't previous experience of going a man up early doors at OT and still managed to get beat 0-1.

Poor decisions for the red (which is probably a red in the modern era) but the assist king Bruno should have got a red for his wee kick at a player prone on the ground.

As for the goal, the feckin rules are so complicated now that even the referee and VAR made a balls of it.

Quote from: johnnycool on September 11, 2026, 08:31:17 AMBredagh won the minor game last night, won by 6 in the end, we needed a goal from a 20 metre free in injury time to level it, Bredagh saved it, worked it up the field and got a goal right at the death.

A good enough game that took a while to get going with a low scoring first half only ignited by the Bredagh goal.

Our lads made a fight of it which is all we can ask, and best of luck to Bredagh going into Ulster.

This will be the last time we'll compete at this level for maybe 4 or 5 years, we just have really poor numbers for the next while. We lose 6 of a panel of 17, two others probably will pack it in and only 4 coming off a weak U14 team.

We may need to sanction players out to other clubs to get them hurling.

We can probably field at U16 as we've a decent crop of U12's on their way but there's a whole pile of difference in physical development in a 13 yo playing against a 15 or 16 yo.

The joys of being a rural club where there's been no housing built in 20 years and English fúckers are moving in for retirement homes....

How far would your players come from JC?

Portaferry a good bet for Ulster Club?

It would be hard not to see Portaferry coming out of Down and that really pains me to type it, but it's theirs to lose.

Will they win Ulster?

They're trying to shore up their defence and have a new full back, with a bit of size, good in the air and quick enough over the ground. This allows them to move their best player in CT to wherever they believe they're under the most threat.

Maybe one more defender short, but overall they have been solid and the caveat there is that they haven't really been tested yet in Down.

Midfield up, they've good options with probably 8 to 10 lads able to do a job for them if needed and they can rotate them about.
I still think they're without someone able to win aerial ball up there when the pressure is on and their defence is under pressure and not able to get the low balls in that they need.

I'd give them a fair chance to beat whoever comes out of Antrim and they would have beaten the Johnnies if they'd have met last year.

To do two games in Ulster is tough, but not beyond them.

I'm away for a deep clean of myself after putting that to print.

The level of intended terror however that was unleashed on the western world in 9/11, the london attacks etc... was unparalleled. Terror, not just destruction. It was designed for maximum chaos, pain, confusion - sheer terror.

Israel aside, I do not think that was ever the MO of the US or UK in their responses and the execution of the "war on terror".

By whom?

I think some people feel that pain and suffering in some far away place in Africa is less to that when it was brought upon places like Madrid/Paris/London/New York and while that is a small small fraction of the carnage that goes on everywhere else, it was still horrific and terror

As said already and I've said it many times, there is zero hierarchy of victims and suffering, excusing/blaming is daft

My ask was meant to be who was responsible for the 9-11 attack?

It wasn't some yahoo stuck in a cave in Afghanistan, I think we all accept that.

Quote from: Baile Brigín 2 on September 11, 2026, 03:13:46 PMHold on. Are we talking about the gate share county boards get or individual players?

So the Down footballer gets x milage and three square means a day, the hurler x/2 and one and a half?

A bit of everything.
If the ladies want equity, equality or egalitarianism as Wobbler pointed out, then the money each CB has to invest in it's county teams has to come from it's own revenue streams and if they're getting a bigger slice of league and championship revenues that'll filter down to the county players, development squads etc.

They get the same mileage (well up North is different to the southern rates, most due to our benefit in kind laws being different) but they don't get three square meals a day unlike the Dublin footballers, if that's what you are asking.
I'd doubt the Down footballers get 3 square meals a day. Friar Tucks couldn't keep up to that.

The tide is turning against the Zionists. It's really striking in the US. Amazing change even in the Republican party.

If you're a voter in the US in the upcoming November mid terms when both Rep and Democratic candidates are on the take from AIPAC, and worrying about Larry Ellison and other media moguls doing a hatchet job them, who do you vote for?

None of the above.

US democracy is openly a smokescreen for anything but democracy and so are a lot of other countries too.
