Quote from: MalluskMan on September 01, 2026, 08:49:19 PMVery defeatist from a club man, Last Man!! Why would ye not be motivated to win a championship game?? What benefit is there in losing?? Relegated and down to intermediate?? Lot of youth coming through. Have a winter reset, freshen things up, go again! Taking a defeat could demoralise further.
Yip the nett effect of losing all season is relegation. Winning one championship (far from a given btw)game against a first year promoted team would count for what? It's done, get it wrapped up and look to next season.

How are the youth structures in St Enda's? Is there young lads ready to step up and support the current core of your team?
Could be worse I suppose, although the young lads who have joined the senior panel this season are struggling to make an impact or more crucially, the impact we could do with. A few main players have stepped away for various reasons and we haven't been able to plug the gaps

From what I've seen of your team, the spine is strong with the likes of O'Connor and Maskey and a few others I wouldn't know their names, but you are sometimes lacking on the periphery to support them and maybe a goalkeeper who prefers to stop a ball or two than going out and lamping lads.  ;D Wasn't at that game but I have it on very good authority that justice was served  ;D. He's my first pick keeper, a bit of a hot head no doubt but another one who is doing other things these days

Glenariffe have a spread of good and decent hurlers at the start of their adult careers throughout their team and will improve in the years to come. Agreed, think we caught them on the hop in the return league game. I'd see their stickwork average as much better than ours currently and fully expect them to stay in D1 next season.
Much like ourselves they may lack a wee bit of depth when county panels and injuries start depriving them of players.Yeah we know well what that looks like

If a lad of 6'2" picks on a lad 5'7" at a push needs his keeper to run out and help him then he needs to have a good hard look at himself  ;)
Should have written "independent authority", why would height come in to it? lol  Our keeper is probably 5'6 right enough!

I believe you keeper also cleaned the clock of a Portaferry lad earlier in the year, so he's not all bad  ;D
He may well have done but there's only so many beatings I can commit to memory in one season!

Quote from: MalluskMan on August 31, 2026, 05:07:30 PMDespite the wretched form, I still reckon Philly Curran will get a tune out of them. There's no doubt that both of those teams will have targeted each other when draw was made; and the extra bit of spice if needed, Kearney in charge of Glenariffe this year, was coaching with St Endas last year.
Why would they be motivated to? What difference would it make? Let's say they scrape past Oisin's, then get trimmed in the next game?
Get it over with, draw a line and go back to the drawing board.

St Endas, despite their wretched form, will be too powerful for Glenariffe. They will have their full compliment back and have senior championship experience on their side.

Wouldn't share your optimism, we are operating at no-where near the level of previous seasons. The sooner we draw a line under this season the better.

The AI fleadh has almost always been an event that fits best in decent sized provincial town. The organisers have done a brilliant job to scale it up to fit the space and maintain the atmosphere. Loads of people still trying to find their feet and strike a balance for what the Fleadh should be about. Heading back tonight for another mooch about and a few tunes fingers crossed.

Deffo won't make the music thread

She turned out to be an ould bitch too

She had plenty to say for herself during Brexit; God forgive me, she's a small loss.

Some things are better left unsaid don't you think?

Quote from: NorthAntrimSaff on July 09, 2026, 11:05:04 AMIs there a possibility of a restructure? I feel St Endas are hard done by in relegation after providing 3 county hurlers. Could division 1 go to 12 teams no relegation and 2 up?

Its tough on St Enda's but they are very strong and should go straight back up as the levels in DIV 2 are not great and they should have enough in the tank to go back up again, just been one of those years with 3 lads on the the county team.. The leagues at hurling are working

Agreed. We got what we ordered, granted we don't have a deep panel but we haven't looked up for the challenge all season. That's team sport, fail to show, live with the consequences.

Ducks being lined up in a row for a bit of positive Stormont PR before they all f#@k off for the summer.

The public spin will be that a 'budget' has been agreed but in reality the cans will be kicked down the road for another year.

Nothing will happen before the election...and it's nearly a year away.

Nobody wants to say yes to water charges and raising uni fees etc. but they all want better infrastructure for water and sewerage etc.
It would suit them better to deal with blatant waste and make individuals accountable for poor performance. We cant keep tipping money into the bottomless pit and expect a better result.  Lets get to the root causes and go from there.

The standard has been set in terms of what the players are supposed to get and they should get every bit of it. In return Management can set the standards players are expected to achieve, everyone has to keep their side of the bargain.
That deal does not look to be in place.
As far as the letter is concerned it does appear to have been generated from a few more vocal members of the squad. They might have been better to take some advice to put their case forward. From a PR perspective it is not a great look.
Should never have got to this point in any case. The CB has to shoulder a fair portion of the blame.

And also to whatever muppet on the county board signed the appointment off!

Do the club County Board delegates not ratify the managers every year?

I don't think the appointment was made with anything other than the best intentions. The fact it has gone so pear shaped is probably down to a number of factors.

Point is learning needs to be taken on board and a clear plan set out to take it forward, rather than lurching from one appointment to the next and hope something magically happens.

You can't go blaming an individual when it's a collective decision.

I'd say Antrim are no different than Down, the CB appoint a committee to go looking for a manager and they come back with a proposal for the full county committee to ratify.

Yeah totally agree

It's a combination of a few things. If you look at the physical conditioning of the better teams, too many of our players are not at the level required. Precocious talent doesn't prevail if you can't win a ball or stay on your feet when you get it.
It can't be a United camp if some are putting the work in and some not trying quite as hard.
We are getting what we ordered and if that's as good as it gets that's our new level.

Quote from: general_lee on February 25, 2026, 09:51:28 AMLooking at the wider picture and how much obesity, poor lifestyle and related conditions like heart disease, diabetes etc cost the NHS taxpayer, maybe it's not a bad thing to try and shave a billion or two off that annual bill?
I'd agree. I don't think GPs are desperate for 3 grand but if these drugs are effective at reducing obesity related pressures on the NHS then they're well worth it.
Our carb heavy healthy plate recomendations are the root of it. We all get to a point where we cant outrun it no matter what training you do. The wholemeal story is nonsense also. You can only store fat when insulin is raging though your veins so why does it not occur to anyone to not provoke it so much, unless you are addicted of course.
Too many docs just follow the basic standard of care as if we are all cardboard cut outs. Anecdotally, an 85yr old relative of mine was found to have slightly elevated blood pressure, the GP immediately precribes 2 BP lowering drugs.
3 weeks later they collapse getting out of bed, 3 days in hospital, taken off 1 of the drugs and monitored. Seen by another GP who took more than the 5 minutes and deprescibed the 2nd BP drug. Also saying they were in amazing shape for 85! Lets say there was a resulting hip fracture to deal with as a result of this, the statistics would point to game over.
So Iatrogenic harm is a real issue and if you place all your trust in the current medical system you'd better tread carefully.

Just finished 5 episodes of the Quinn family story, not the easiest listen at times but it is frightening the way govt officials can act with impunity and they would put any of us plebs in jail for not paying a TV licence or causing some emotional offence. Mafia by a different name!

Wise up ffs
Ok comrade
