Huge vindication for Tommy Fitzgerald.
He would have heard and read a lot of nonsense about whether he was the right man for the job but he proved himself today.
He was brave all year and made calls that many didn't agree with but they pretty much all paid off. Fair play!

Well done to everyone involved. I'd love more than anything for every single person involved to row in again next year and really see Laois test ourselves against the next tier up. There's absolutely no reason for any of that starting 15 to walk away and hopefully we can find 2 or 3 to supplement the strong panel behind.

Delighted for Tommy Fitz who would have been hurting after last week.

Brave decisions with the changes and all paid-off. Picky was brilliant and led the forward line. Big impact from the bench too, James Keyes in particular.

A long road to travel but a shot at Carlow in a Joe Mc Final is still on the cards.

You'd hope the drier sod would help the likes of James Keyes and Cillian Dunne who looked like nailed on starters as the league concluded.

The full-back line creaked against Carlow but any of the 3 would be a loss, especially with Cody Comerford injured.

I'm really surprised Eoin Gaughan isn't featuring in the half-back line or in midfield.

Minors vs Wexford at 12 in O Moore Park on Saturday. Very competitive against Galway; it'd give us some boost to see us take a scalp.

Celtic Challenge team are playing Antrim then at 2 (COE) before the senior game.
Good chance to see how our underage depth is as Antrim had a big win over Offaly in CC last weekend.

Brilliant win tonight. Offaly couldn't live with the aggression and pace in our middle third.

I don't think the Un19s trained at all. Box ticking exercise. Kilkenny had dozens of collective training sessions.

Good win for the minors in desperate conditions. I tried watching it on clubber and it was a hard ask on young fellas. We had a club match abandoned for comparable conditions shortly after.
We have to play one of Offaly, Antrim or Westmeath to make it into Tier 1. Seemingly Antrim and Westmeath have strong teams so we'll know a lot more after next week.

The Un20s absolutely had the winning of the game but whether it was a lack of fitness or belief; they lost all momentum coming towards full-time. Felt for the keeper.

Ballacolla have 4 on the U15 County Squad and Mountrath have 3, those 7 will not be on the Club U17 Team, a joke

I'd fully expect lads Un15 to play.

Nothing came of it but I know that a minor arrangement with Colt/Shanahoe was discussed, Cbcolla had one Un14 and roughly a half-dozen Un15s available for minor, four of them played minor last year.

They weren't interested in an U15 arrangement as they have decent numbers at Un13.

I think CB and Colt/Shanahoe will eventually form an arrangement at underage. There's a link there with camogie and lgfa and both are struggling with numbers at lower grades.

Sbloom have lads hurling with Camross underage. How are mrath and Cbolla together in the minor Cship???

I'm only presuming it has to be numbers.

I believe CBcolla are working on a motion to allow 13 and 11 a side competitions up to 15s.

Couldn't get over how poor Kerry were but we did the business and the lads should be feeling positive heading into Joe McD.

I thought our full-back line was really excellent; it gives management a great headache with Diarmuid Conway back now as well.

Further forward, I thought Podge Delaney was very solid, Aidan Corby was busy if a little wasteful and Mossy made things happen in the forwards. We might struggle to hit massive scores but hopefully we'll be solid defensively.

I can't say I know too many of the minors but I've heard decent things about their preparation with some positive practice match results. I'm told that there is a strong cohort of the group underage again next year.

Under 19s are playing Offaly tonight, team is up on Laois GAA facebook. Strong enough team on paper, few lads would have been an addition to the U20s if they had committed.

Nice chance for some of the younger players to stake a claim.

Good win in Mullingar. Pretty rotten conditions with a tight, soft pitch and a cross-wind making it a poor spectacle at times.

Mossy was very good and Ryan Mullaney added a little bit of physicality to the forwards. I think we have the defenders to absorb his loss so I reckon this looks a great move.

Not sure if Aidan Corby picked up an injury because he had a decent first half. Good to see Fionán Mahony get a run and he didn't look out of place at all.


Panel is building nicely and Picky, though still looking rusty, just adds that class and assuredness we need.

I believe minors and U20s have struggled in practice games recently. But our U15s had a big win over Offaly and the U14s would be the first group to have come through the revived Setanta Programme.

For our seniors, we have a forward line crying out for a dry sod. But the reality is that we need more physicality in our forwards. Picky will be a help but he's into his 30s now, coming off a serious injury (second ACL?) and it's a big ask for him to shoulder that responsibility.
I think Ryan Mullaney may need to be moved forward if a couple more defenders regain fitness.
