More manager IMO and I love MON. To me, he should have just shut the door in that game and went negative. They showed enough in the first leg that they could create chances so if they started hitting the net, which they did, he should have shut up shop. I think it was the third goal that Celtic were caught on the counter with two of their midfielders running beyond our midfield who were high up the park. Shouldn't be happening and took too long to try to shut it down.

Good point SS...the weak spot would definitely be a team that lost first two or three games and had nothing to play for in the last match, unless of course there was play off match between last place teams to drop into intermediate and be replace by the previous years intermediate champs.

So in effect clubs would be doing their best to avoid finishing last in their group...keeping game 4 honest.

4 x league games plus two semis and a final is 7 weekends. If we drop the semi over 2 legs its 6...same as now.

4 group matches but with 5 teams that's four weekends with a match and one with a bye so groups would take up five weekends.

I think the biggest issue would be 2 groups of 5 with only 2 teams progressing per group would lead to dead rubbers. IHC has just moved away from that format to include qf round. It wouldd also need 8 weeks of matches, currently 6. Where are you fitting it in?

Very dodgy at the back. After knocking it sideways there was a couple of near suicidal passes back to the keeper which were not punished. Also, the scoreline doesn't reflect the fact that Dundee United hit the woodwork 5 times.

The scoreline did reflect that...the scoreline only changes when it goes in the net.

Hopefully bring in the Torino guy. Chelsea left back on loan should be good. Probably need a rb and gk still.

I think i wanted them to win Euro 96 and was gutted in 1998 as Michael Owen was amazing to watch. By 2002 i was delighted when Ronaldinho scored over Seaman. Maybe i changed when i went to big school too lol

I grew up in Larne and won a season ticket in a competition when i was 8 or 9. I went to most games for a few years then got chased home by local protestants for being a catholic a few times. It was in the Rangers 9 in a row era and the loudest cheer at Inver Park was them winning or Celtic losing every week so by 12/13 I realised they weren't for me and i wasnt for them.

So mid-80s to mid-90s then? How old would you have been at the time? That'd certainly be enough to put anyone off supporting the local team. Mad stuff.

More late 80s to late 90s. Was it 89-97? I was born in 1984 so you're probably looking about 1995/96ish as i found once they went to big school, lads i knew from the local estate where i lived changed in terms of religion.

They became more hostile when they went to secondary school?

Yeah, boys i was friends with as youngsters would be lads who would end up trying to start fights with us as we got older. Larne would be a very much protestant town and it would have been a regular occurance to get chased or hit as a teenager in the town. Few times it was by those same lads who i had lived beside.
