GAA Discussion / Re: Ulster JFC/IFC 2026

Quote from: GAA Club Fan on October 01, 2026, 06:11:26 PMNo disrespect to Pomeroy, assuming they win, but not sure they are as strong as previous Tyrone Intermediate winners.

Fintona will be strong in Ulster. However Stewartstown will be closer than people think in Tyrone. They are used to levelling up a game.

I also think if Fintona are in Ulster they could be nipped. I'm not sure I've seen them with a complete performance yet.

Do you not think Pomeroy are stronger than Derrylaughan of two years ago 2024. I do. Derrylaughan were beaten in the Ulster semi by ballinderry by 1 point who were beaten all Ireland finalists.

Carmen and Loughmacrory gave gortin points at the end of last season, although ultimately it didn't prevent them from going down.

Devenney robbed Pomeroy against carmen last year with blatantly bad decisions. The man shouldn't be let near a whistle.

Quote from: UtilityMan on June 12, 2026, 09:31:09 AMUp in Pomeroy last night, great game despite the conditions.

Naomh Eoghan dominated Pomeroy physically, which hasn't been said too many times when the Plunketts have played in D2.

A Pomeroy team minus 8-9 starters due to injuries and county men.

Quote from: tyrone08 on October 25, 2025, 08:25:33 PMHeard today that the fianna vs pomeroy ref was from clonoe. Would it be normal that a teams nearest rival would ref a play off game?
Down as Clonoe ref but is from Ballinderry. Has no affinity to Clonoe. Is a common enough practice..

Strange hes listed as clonoe but thanks for answering

A clonoe man wouldn't of been playing 7 mins of injury time ensuring a Fianna leveller that's for sure!

McErlain was very sore on the Plunketts throughout. Every 50 50 decision went the way of coalisland. Where he got 7 mins injury time from I'll never know. The plunketts were up by 5 with 57 mins played yet you just felt he was going to do anything in his power bring to Coalisland back into it.

Quote from: Gaafan2 on September 27, 2025, 10:02:36 AMReally disappointed to lose that game last night. It's fair to say Trillick rode their luck and probably don't deserve to be sitting in a semi final. Cathal Bell gave a lot of questionable decisions in favour of Trillick. Is it acceptable that smaller clubs don't get these decisions against the so called bigger teams? In any case our lads stood up and went toe to toe with Trillick when nobody gave them a chance!

That's fair enough but waiting/hoping for 1 big performance a year isn't good enough.

We've had a difficult season due to injuries, men abroad and the county men missing 6 league games. We played the majority of our league games with a skeleton team and the results showed that. Last night was the first time this season we've been at full strength. We've a small enough squad of men capable of playing senior football therefore we struggle when we're down a few starters.

Quote from: Gaafan2 on September 17, 2025, 10:28:14 PMPlunkett park has the second best facilities in the county for a game and nobody can tell me any different.  State of the art changing rooms, carpet like surface, stand and terraced the whole way around. Name another club outside of omagh that can boast that. For any of you ridiculing pomeroys facilities, you'd need to have a look at your own clubs first. Granted sunday was an awful day but you'd swear Pomeroy was the only place with wind and rain. The conditions in dungannon for the carrickmore v Moortown game were awful. Score wise Dromore v edendork had the second highest total of the senior championship games played. To say carrickmore is a better venue is ridiculous. Granted there may be a good atmosphere but their changing rooms are far too small and their surface is like a swamp at this time of the year.

Carrickmore is by far better than Pomeroy as is Dungannon, yes Pomeroys facilities are good and much improved but the playing surface isn't much better at all and the horrendous conditions spoil a lot of games which I can see why players hate the venue. Conditions in Dungannon were poor for the Carrickmore & Moortown game but they looked a lot worse for the Omagh & Derrylaughan game in Pomeroy.

You obviously haven't set foot on the pitch. Dimac have been looking after it this past 2 years. There wouldn't be another surface in the county any better at this time of the year. Conditions looked a lot worse for the Omagh game as that's when the weather was at its worst on Sunday, not just in Pomeroy. It eased for the Edendork game!

I have been on them many times and Pomeroy is the least favourite of the 3 venues named. Sorry if you are a Pomeroy person and have took offence as the club has put in a massive amount of work to improve the facilities but as a championship venue as this time of year it is poor.

There's no point engaging with an idiot.

Quote from: tyroneStatto on September 17, 2025, 10:34:30 PMO'Neill Park beats Plunkett Park for atmosphere.

Pairc Colmcille has 3 covered stands.

Different club grounds have their own uniqueness.

My point is Plunkett Park is the second best ground in Tyrone facilty wise and for posters on here saying they shouldn't be getting games is ludicrous. The Kerry folk, journalists included who travelled up for the league game earlier this year to Plunkett Park couldn't have been more complimentary about the facilities and hoped games in the future could be played there.

Quote from: Goals_Will_Come on September 17, 2025, 09:36:29 PMCarrickmore a brilliant venue for games. Real good atmosphere. Personally would bring the Intermediate and Junior finals there as well rather than an empty Healy Park.
I agree coalisland could be better utilised, floodlights now as well. Stewartstown another good venue for Intermediate and Junior games.
Pomeroy should go the way of Edendork and Dunmoyle and be given less and less games. As stated here no one wants to go to Pomeroy to play a championship game.

Whats your club?

Quote from: Tyrone95 on September 09, 2025, 11:43:04 AMErrigal v Ardboe - Scrape over the line by 2/3
Gortin v Pomeroy - Pomeroy by 2.. then get both to Division 2
Errigal III V Derrytresk - Belongs to the Go games discussion above
Killyclogher v Loughmacrory - Potential draw written over it.. KC to beat the champions elect by 1
Dungannon v Trillick - Game of the weekend - Trillick by 2
Omagh v Derrylaughan - Paddy Hunter to kick 1-14
Dromore v Edendork - Dromore by 4
Carrickmore v Moortown - Carmen by 3
Galbally v Donaghmore - The Tories to edge their entitled neighbours by 1
Beragh v Drumquin - BRK by 1

Carrickmore were only too happy to give Gortin the 2 points last game of the league. Are you sure you want them back in division 2  :-X

They also felt the need to give Moortown the win on Wednesday night. Result decided before throw in. Sore on the plunketts who should have went ahead of them with their win over derrylaughan.
