I agree with the suggestion that Tiernan Moore should also be under consideration for a place in the Derry Senior panel. Shane McGuigan is the only current Derry player who features in  this years Senior Championship top five scorers. Cahir McMonagle, Alex Doherty, Oisin Doherty and Tiarnan Moore are the others.

 Of course, both regular Senior County men, Niall Loughlin and Lachlan Murray, continue to feature prominently in the Intermediate Championship top scoring stakes.

Pretty sure Tiarnan Moore was asked or was briefly part of a squad in the last couple of years and didnt want to commit. Same boat as McMonagle, Conor McAteer, Callum McGrogan, Jack Doherty.

Lachlan Murray hasnt played any club championship yet.

I do think we need to strengthen the panel even if it means leaving the door open for some of those boys aswell as people like Donnacha Gilmore.

Just a query for those supporters who have attended Derry Club games  this year. From Ciaran Meenagh's 2027 Derry County team perspective, who were the stand out players especially when you take into account those club teams which have already played two rounds in this years's Derry championships at all levels?

 There would be one caveat. There would be no point in selecting players,no matter how talented they were, if they were likely not to make themselves available to the County panel or who would be likely to disappear after a few games of the National Football League!

Could the add on to this question be who have we seen who is regularly involved for Derry who doesn't look they are at the level any more.

James Murray was on the panel this year just wasnt used. Hopefully he sticks it out and gets some gametime next season.

Think we need to be moulding new midfielders be that cathal mckaigue, tommy rogers, matthew diamond.

Alex doherty be an option? when hes on form hes top quality and loves a goal

Also whole load of watch pointing at the end of the first half after Lavey got turned over, I presume the argument was injury time should only be allowed if we are attacking.
The same at the end of full time where they felt more time should have been allowed for them to score another two pointer? Despite time being up.

Lavey decided to show up a bit late before they had a go.

Matthew Downey very poor I thought in comparison to Oisin Doherty, Eamon Young on Bridge side. If your are or pushing to be county standard need more leadership qualities than that.

Can't believe Lavey management thought throwing in Oisin Mulholland against the County champions was sensible. A classic case of we are here for a short time only.

Agreed Lavey left it too late also thought their substitutions seemed a bit desperate.

Maybe not a good night for Downey but thought he performed well for the county before getting injured this year.

If it did happen it was at the opposite side from stand and there was no real shout from any of the Kilrea crowd. Generally at least a few people see it.

Tommy Rogers looked good tonight, James Kielt on as a late sub and kicked a 2 pointer with his first touch.
Kilrea are a really strange team, I know others disagree but I thought they had decent go at Newbridge and far too strong tonight.
They have good footballers throughout the team but don't appear to push on.

Nobody will be bothered about getting them in the next round but not sure anyone would want to get them.

Would agree with this and id put dungiven in the same bracket, contrast of them beating newbridge in the first round last year to getting hammered by Bellaghy this year

Id add Matthew Diamond Bellaghy to that list thought his influence at midfield played a big part in their win. Only 18 too i believe

Firstly fair play to the hurlers finally getting over the line in the christy ring. Great performance today and great to see for the men that have stuck at it through more bad days than good as cormac said.

On the football, we look like a group that have lost all confidence, most noticeable in shane and ethan and looks like its going further through the team.

Weve needed new blood for a while, ruairi forbes has been a find this year but thats been it. Dan higgins injured most of the year, patrick mcgurk played a bit last year hasnt pushed on. Sean kearney preferred one day then sean young the next. Mathew downey looked like he was back during the league now gone/injured again.

The players really need to stand up now. The last few years they have wanted RG or Meenagh back. Some need to show some real leadership. Armagh didnt get out of 2nd gear but neither did we. The shooting was abysmal. Some easy easy scores passed up. Loughlin and McGuigan in the first 10 minutes passed up 1-1 between them and we got zero from those attacks. Kick outs were poor and we barely got any away clean the whole game.

Some real questions need asked now. What do we want to be? The 2020's nearly men who threw it all away or is there something in this team that when it clicks we can be one of the top teams in the country. Confidence looks shot again. Time for Meenagh to really show what's the about.

Yeah they can't blame the management again. Although you'd have to question the authority Meenagh has when you see  the performances of some. Also the distactions of the nonsense social media stuff players have been putting up the last while. You can't see the Donegal or Armagh management tolerating it in a run up to a big game. Derry have become a laughing stock in those counties.

We folded like a deck of cards, big men disappeared, substitutions were very iffy and then reversed. We lack a killer instinct, that used to be there.

Somebody said here we missed Mc Faul and that 100% right, someone with a ruthless streak that people are nearly afraid to let down. Chrissy was in the same boat, demanding so much more from everyone around him.

Wides in the first half lost this game. The boys that allowed themselves and each other to take the foot off the pedal lost this game not the mistakes at the end.

Also would agree with the fact that our lack of quality and experience (outside shea downey & toner) on the bench cost us and will do again.

Apparently southern soccer fans like to taunt Derry city fans about politics hence why I wouldn't go.

Also I haven't had good experience with Derry city people anyway. They often like to taunt rural people about the name of the county. They tell us about there being no county Derry before the plantations.
When I see comments like this I remind them that they live in a plantation town so they have little room to be making jokes.
