The number of Irish people on facebook supporting this **** is unreal. Are they just doing it to annoy "the lefties" or do they genuinely think he's a great fella? Would hope a lot of the accounts are bots but plenty seem real. 

He's certainly given two giant fingers to the cancel culture that has become more and more powerful over the last few decades. Completely teflon to any of it. I'd say that's good enough for some people. Is trying to tank the world economy and ripping up all diplomatic norms a good trade off or maybe they don't think that deeply about it? Or maybe even feel their jobs or status are not going to change that much from the eventual ramifications. Who knows? But don't mention the kids.

There absolutely is a hierarchy of victims. Don't know how anyone could argue there isn't.

Unfortunately countless families suffered shattering losses before and since that doesn't really register in the grand scheme of things. Cities levelled burying innocents in far off places or indeed Iranian or Libyan passenger jets full of people getting shot down don't count or need to be mentioned when talking about international terrorism.

Joyce did say his aim was an AI when he took over, and it was seen as ambitious, but were Dublin not in their pomp at the time and people were resigned to their dominance? Kerry and Mayo were seen as the legitimate challengers. So while expectation did rise in this tenure, the football landscape has changed dramatically too. It's a much more open competition. Not saying he may not have improved them, but I don't think this current Galway team would stay with prime Dublin. And they played some poor stuff at times too. Time will tell if he overachieved or was actually the wrong man at the right time.

He didn't try to hard too be liked toward the end of his first spell. Time will tell if he is willing to dig in and fight when it matters.

Did I read something once where McClaren or Rangnick commented on him in training? Basically very hard to coach and takes advice as criticism and goes into a shell.

I'd say his current contract and future wage demands are the biggest obstacle to new deals with other parties. I'm sure he'll go all out this year to secure one big final contract.

If he picks up no chronic injuries, why would he slow down? It's not like professional football where you're forced to retire because the body can no longer do it. An even then players have serious difficulty adjusting to normality and not being in the thick of the action.

McIlroy strikes me as the type of guy who loves the attention and fully at home in the glare of the cameras with a heap of microphones to philosophise into on every single subject and person he is asked about. Plus there's the legacy issue. He has a bit of catching up to do on a couple of the greats and what was predicted for him when he first started out. I'm sure he's motivated enough to win more majors.

In a roundabout long term way Trump might be their greatest gift. A major weakness in the EU is lack of natural resources and having to import a lot. Trump has opened the door to greater cooperation with Canada, culturally much more aligned to European values than US.
