Carryduff wwre full value for their win. Their physicality around the middle was problem for kilcoo all evening...

As the league season concludes tonight, which teams and players have established themselves as the definitive contenders and standout performers ahead of the upcoming championship?

Kilcoo won't be stopped, the only team who could possibly catch them on an off day is Clonduff I think, but that's a long shot.

Rostrevor probably favorites for an open looking IFC. You've also got Annaclone, An Riocht, Longstone, CNB, Darragh Cross and Liatroim any of whom could go far.

Clonduff and Burren will have right good go this year. There is enough pain built up from previous years it now geels a bit like a Mayo scenario.

Fabulous senior game today and great showpiece all round for camogie. The intentsity was top notch. Well done to cork, Antrim and Armagh.

I've been a big fan of this management team but I think some of the performances this year have been shocking. Clones against Armagh, both 2nd half performances against Fermanagh and Wicklow. Laverty needs to resign or be moved on. He's moved us on a bit but I think it's time for something fresh

If they stay in div 2 it will all be forgotten about. If not he will go...

It's very disappointing that we will not be able or capable to host the ulster final in the 6 counties..

Mayo lost it...the goal was there to be taken. These goal chances when they come you need to take to win these big games

Definitely need to use tailteann to develop the squad particularly the physical size aspect of the team. Ross carr, eamon Brown, tom close, and tom gilroy all need to be looked at and developed so they can add to the current set up...

Veey tough result to take. I knew going to Clones yesterday it would be hard. We started well but as said above the wheels came off after the 2 gifts of goals. Armagh were magnificent fairplay to them no one will want to play Armagh. Im sure they will be there or there abouts come mid july.
The management and players will be devastated. A defeat that size is very hard to take. To experience such a high and a low in 7 days.
There is no doubt Laverty is the man for the job,no one that sees Down regularly would disagree with that i dont think.
The issue lies further down at underage. No way do Down produce worse players than the Armaghs Donegals or Tyrones. But what is done at a coaching level needs to be seriously looked at. Bar Lavertys U20 teams we have consistently been dreadful at underage. The minors were hammerred in donegal although they got a reprieve with the weather. The U20s are only good enough for B competitions.
I assume Laverty will go all out for Tailteann but maybe a break for some of the players would do them good and try to develope a few more squad players.

Agree.. the squad needs developed and become Less dependent on 3 or 4 individuals to play well to win these games. The underage also has to do better. We cant expect the senior team to win at A grade if the grope coming is not competing strongly at A Grade. 

What a week of emotions. The high of the win over Donegal to the very low of today's match and into tailteann cup. That manner of that defeat is alarming. We were miles off it and it's hard now to see these lads regroup for the tailteann cup...

The condensed season would have a lot to answer for.  A 1 week turnaround between matches is going to hammer teams in terms of injuries.  The game has got faster, the turnaround less, which is mad from a player welfare perspective. 

We are actually having conversations about whether it is worthwhile progressing into a league final/provincial final at the risk of hampering preparations for the AI series. 

Personally, I think Armagh will be aiming for an Ulster title, it has been too long for them, giving they are performing quite well in recent times. 
The big question this weekend is whether Down can match that intensity they brought the other day. 

Ethan I'd suggest this is mostly a perspective issue than a real issue.

Because e.g. Down have known for months who their first round opponent would be, they've had months to prepare for it. They know only have 7 days for Armagh.

Here's the thing though, 7 days is plenty. It just looks a little warped by the preparation time available for the openers.

Personally, I believe the less time managers have to overtrain and prepare themselves to serve up doses of shite, the better it is for our sport. 

Far from me to praise Down but they were super to watch the other day, brought a game plan and executed it brilliantly. Doubtful they get near Donegal without that level of preparation. Will be interesting to see what they do this weekend.


It will be interesting this weekend. An insane amount of focus and prep was done by down to oust Donegal. Lets hope this helps for this sundays game. The need is greater for Down because of qualification for sam maguire. It's a big challenge for us as Armagh are top class experienced setup. It's a Derby game also so should be a great atmosphere...
