Heard the story of  some rapper who let it slip that  he was  told the day before  to present the MOTM award to Messi  in the Argentina Egypt match . Then backtracked  and said or whoever player was  MOTM

Another story of Yamal MOTM v Belgium I think ,  but apparently he was  poor.

Something  strange going on in Cloud cuckoo FIFA  land?

The truth is out there...

Couldnt find any more recent. Would imagine with new rules there is an updated version.

Hawkeye is overly complicated tech and does not account for balls that would hit the post and go over.
It would be more complicated for Hawkeye to guess if a ball was hitting an imaginary post and going over or not. Over the post is a wide, simple as you can get.
Is there an argument for getting taller posts? Especially for hurling?

Yes

Aren't rugby posts taller? And  sure they're hardly  used

A Mayo/Argentina double this year?

There won't be an overpriced  rug made in Foxford for a  month if that happens.

Didn't the Spanish  chant something about Gibraltar after they beat England in the   Euros final?

Quote from: Milltown Row2 on July 16, 2026, 07:16:17 AMUp to England scoring they contained any threat Messi had, then after that allowed him to sit on the right wing and have influence on the game, he took every corner on the right wing the same? And they allowed it, it was obviously a training ground exercise but they switched off..

Inviting a team that good to push you back the large square for 20 odd minutes defending was never really going to end well

Taking Gordon off and going to a back 5 meant that there was no extra cover on that wing which completely freed up Messi,  and idiotic move.  If they were going to a back 5 I would have kept Gordon on but taken off Rice and gone to 3-4-3 with it going to 5 when out of possession.  That would have closed the space down on the wing but they went to a straight back 5 and tried to Tony Pulis the win!

Agree completely with all this. A team trying to win a tournament should never need to resort to a flat back 5 with a defender in midfield unless you are a man down and it's the last 5 minutes. Trying to do it for half an hour was suicidal.
That one will haunt England for a long time.

Sure they did  the same  v  Mexico. Only Mexico didn't  just have the quality/luck to  equalise. So Tuchel was labelled a genius for it , and the  England players were  labelled as heroic and  warriors.

They concede two here , and  Tuchel's a numpty.

No but that Argentina team will kill to win. Spain wouldn't have that with the whole regional thing.

Yeah,  especially when they went 2-1 up , the Argentina defenders  were  throwing themselves at headers like their lives depended on it.

Quote from: tyroneStatto on July 15, 2026, 10:35:13 PMSo in the end England didn't have a better manager than Southgate.

Nope.

They got exactly the same.

Men who would rather lie down than fight.

Eventually England will get a manager who realises they don't have the technique or patience to play other country's football.

That's when the real problems could start for the anti English.

Until then they're just pissing into the wind. Hitting the same again with a different result theory into a theorem.

England players definitely technically as good as most. Is their biggest issue not the attritional nature of their league so they are all goosed by the time a tournament comes around. Their two best players play in other leagues.

And bar  scoring their goals , I thought they were both  very average in this tournament

True. They left it very  late

Spain , even the 2010 version, might have passed  teams  to death , but they rarely  trounced teams, which is worrying if them  feckers get there

I had my doubts about Spain up  to now. They bored the  arse of me (as did France at  times) , but they looked very good  last night. So,  if those feckers do go through tonight,  hopefully Spain will  produce a similar performance.

England were really. poor v Norway.  Can't really say anyone  stood up . You'd hope their unbelievable  luck  will run out tonight.
