Quote from: Ryan O on November 03, 2025, 02:38:28 PMI'll be devils advocate as argue the opposite, time will tell if it happens but theres alot of politics involved there.

I would be of the same opinion. I went through Maghera with Seamus and Henry, and as of 1 year ago they were 100% never going back. It would be some turnaround if they did. Things can change though, but it would be a big surprise.

I have a Luba 2. Great machine. I have a very slopey garden in Donegal, with lots of obstacles. Rarely misses a beat. There's a Luba Mini now which I think covers up to 1500m2

Newbridge didn't panic and ran out comfortable winners in the end. They are a very young team and the inconsistency in their performances is part and parcel of youthful teams. I don't think they'll beat Scotstown or Kilcoo this year but give them a couple more years and they'll be up there with the best.

Newbridge have been poor at taking their chances compared to their Derry Championship performances. Dunloy seem more up for this.

Definitely a very open Ulster Championship this year. Kilcoo are probably favourites but there are a few teams knocking on the door. Should be a good one.

Quote from: Armagh18 on October 27, 2025, 06:37:08 AMThat Newbridge side might do a bit in Ulster? (Although Clann Eireann beat them last year and Madden dominated Clann Eireann in Armagh.) Can't be easy winning back to back in Derry.

I think they'll be a good bit better this year in Ulster. Last year was their first Derry championship in a long time, with 10 starters under 20. Padraig McGrogan is back to full fitness now. That said, they're still a very young team so consistency is far from guaranteed.

Oh no chance. But I do wish she had been on the ballot, just to shut those ones up

It would have been good. They'd never acknowledge that she didn't do the hard yards early enough to get on the ballot.

Where did you get those numbers? RTE has Connelly on 63.1 and Humpherys on 29.7 with two constituencies to come.

A mauling, any way you look at it. Am i right in saying Humpherys only won one constituency, Cavan-Monaghan? 45.9% turnout overall.

Exactly. The GAA is at the heart of the majority of communities across Ireland, in a way that soccer could never be.

Quote from: Rossfan on October 16, 2025, 08:52:10 AMThere was no campaign last year.

Latest opinion poll
Connolly 38%
Humphreys 20%
Gavin 5%.

Won't vote 12%
Will spoil vote 6%

Another interesting part of that poll was that Gavin's votes would have transferred pretty evenly across the two. I dont think many people would have thought that?

Quote from: gallsman on October 15, 2025, 02:23:39 PMWhat I presume happened, and what was also hinted at on commentary, was that the players communicated with the ref while running up the pitch that they wanted to bring it back out, so he just stopped there. Not sure whether he's supposed to set it down at the "official" 50m up the pitch point and only go then through the farce of bringing it back out.

Thats what i was thinking as well but the weird part was that he then sprayed a line about a metre outside the arch. Regardless, to appeal that or the Shane 1/2 pointer was ill-advised.

Quote from: GTP on October 14, 2025, 07:38:05 PMAs a simple example no one knows why the last free for Newbridge was brought forward. If it was explained it was for dissent or delaying the kick or whatever it may help people understand the refs viewpoint. And maybe we could see that they got it right and we wouldn't be left thinking they got a lot of big calls wrong.

You'd probably need new signals for the ref to signal what the 50m advance was for. It's definitely doable and would remove alot of the confusion.

Quote from: SouthOfThe Bann on October 12, 2025, 09:58:20 PMWould that be your top 4?

1. Kilcoo
2. Scotstown
3. Magherafelt
4. Naomh Conaill

Anyone else likely to give ulster a go?

Magherafelt/ Newbridge is a coin toss. Newbridge are the reigning Derry champions with a very young team.
