Some of the stuff I have read on here this morning calling out the young fellas involved in last nights game is disgraceful. Of course it's easy to point the finger at the lads on the pitch last night but the damage was already done a long time ago through our horrible promotion of youth across the whole county.

Until that is changed this will unfortunately be the same outcome every year until every so often we have a team which can put up a fight in games.

If we look at Derry for example were in a very similar situation not so long ago and they took a measured approach putting heavy emphasis on the youth and they are now reaping the rewards.

Quote from: Spike on March 27, 2025, 08:39:02 AMLet's start by getting rid of the quick fix solutions and starting by investing in our youth for once.

Otherwise we have a long and repetitive road of mauling ahead of us

Quick fix number one, get rid of hurling. No other county in Ulster tries to compete as a dual county at a high level it's not possible to balance both and that is proven with Antrim.

The whole north of Antrim don't know what a football looks like that takes away almost half the selection pool of kids at a young age to play football.

There are no other counties in Ulster who take hurling seriously so it has to go, if you want to play hurling move down south or just accept you will be playing at a poor standard in Antrim.

Quote from: Gaelic man on March 26, 2025, 09:12:57 PMColin Toal a future county manager? Not being disrespectful genuinely asking what teams has he taking before u20s?

Lisburn and Sarsfields, however a good modern day coach with great attention to detail and player management skills.

Both clubs absolutely loved him as a manager and left a great affect on the players, he would be a breath of fresh air.

Why do we keep insisting on pursuing the manager with the biggest reputation or name sure that worked well with McEntee. It's worth trying something new and hiring a man within the county who knows it inside out.

Antrim u20's as big as 9/1 tonight with the bookmakers at home to a Donegal side who wouldn't even be fancied to win Ulster at this age group.

From what I've gathered this is a decent u20 side with some real talent and under great management of Colin Toal who I see as the future senior county manager.

I believe this is disrespectful from the bookies and a great chance for punters to clip them and rinse the crookmakers tonight.

Quote from: YoungSaff on March 20, 2025, 04:18:28 PMDoes anyone think any of the club managers from Antrim will be throwing their hat in the ring ?

I can't see us grabbing any big names without forking out a fortune maybe best to look internally and try save some money to invest elsewhere ?

There was a lad came in helped with our seniors for a while everyone had good reports on him (i was not involved at the time) I think he is originally from Belfast around sarsfields? not sure if any of you know him Raymond McErlain , not sure if he is still involved in coaching think he could be a good fit for the job if he would be interested ,

Ah would you catch yourself on seriously? If this is the same Raymond McErlain I am thinking of he hasn't managed a side since Covid and even then it was only at intermediate club level in Antrim.

What seriously makes you think this man has the credentials to now out of the blue take a senior county side?

Yes Ray was a great disciplinarian and could put some manners into some of the current players, but the man has been away from the game for the best part of 5 years  now what makes you think in any way that he would be a candidate for manager?

Agree with everything you have said their bannside hit the nail on the head with what needs to be done to at least start making a change and get out of the current rut.

As for some of the names that I have heard have applied for the county job through the grape vine we could be in even more trouble than we currently are. I would like to hope that even the clowns who run our county would be able to recognise that these applicants are nowhere near the level to take a senior county side, however the current applications aren't looking promising .

I have to say I agree with some of the frustration on here with McEntee. His management style has become outdated and he's refused to adapt his tactics to suit the new rules.

If we take a look at what the young Meath keeper Jamie McLaughlin or Laois Keeper Louis Doyle are offering their sides from play for example it shows how far off we are. Of course Andy will know more than myself but I feel watching other successful teams at the minute he needs to adapt his tactics for the modern game and if he's refusing to do so may be time for a change.

And who are you to decide what gets discussed and what doesn't in this forumn ye blackgard?? Clearly a valid discussion on the on goings through out Antrim gaa. I think you've made a real fool of yourself here níl and would encourage you to remember that sometimes thoughts are best left in your head. You ignorant pig!

I have absolutely no idea who you lads are but be aware your identity can be found on this discussion board and that is absolutely no way to speak to a fellow Gael. Seriously have a long hard look at the message you have just posted. That's the problem we have now with this crisis of unlimited mobile data the kids think they can post anything and have no consequences.

And as Níl previously stated have you nothing better to do than be on here? Go back and play your Minenite or Fortcraft whatever you young folk be at nowadays and leave this platform to the true gaels.

Agreed have been waiting on someone to finally speak up on this ruining what was once a credible forum for us true Gaels/Saffs to have reasonable conversations.

If any admins are active on this or reading any of this please take the necessary actions and revoke these memberships of these clowns who think this is a joke on here.

Quote from: The_Saffron_serpent69 on February 20, 2025, 10:20:01 AMAh lads I've heard it all now, young lads now a days kidding on like the saft heures over the water talking about transferring clubs. In my opinion this young lad is taking the perverbial. What ever happened to playing for the pride of the jersey !!

A very outdated and naive way to look at this situation. We have absolutely no idea what goes on behind closed doors or the reasons the young fella has to feel the need to transfer. Unless you know anything refrain from judging on situations like these and let the clubs deal with them internally. The young fella doesn't need to be reading some of the things that have been said about him on here.

There's a young fella in work telling me here that the talks are that your young fella McCann who initiated the bust up with McCloskey, there's talks of young McCann apparently being sent away to Dagestan for a retreat?

I know what these young fellas are like these days love a rumour and believe everything they see online but surely there can't be any truth behind that? I understand young fellas need to learn their trade or discipline or whatever but surely that's too extreme, but again who am I to give advice and it's all just talk at the minute likely no truth to the story but I'd appreciate if anyone from around the area could shed some light on it

Quote from: YoungSaff on February 20, 2025, 08:58:25 AMI was chatting to a friend from St Ergnants last night he said rumours circulating that Moneyglass have denied young McCloskeys transfer request.

Not surprising if I was the person in charge I would not just be letting players go as the season is to start especially a player of his calibre , he had played a friendly for moneyglass a few weesk ago and scored 1-5

Does anyone on the board know where we can see transfers between clubs or know if this is true ?

Well isn't that a let off for Moneyglass panic over. I was lucky enough to get to watch the young fella live in the league against us last year and he tore one of our better man markers to pieces that day, he was unplayable left or right foot. Was always a mystery to me why this young McCloskey fella never seen minutes come championship, possibly a reason why he tried to initiate the transfer?
