Congratulations to Dunloy, the better team on the day won - no complaints here.

Ref done fairly well too, credit where its due.

Cargin will be back again, and again.

Quote from: Saffrongael on September 30, 2025, 08:04:51 PMAsk Shane Elliott how he feels about Dunloy footballers getting to an Antrim final

Nonsense. I am unfortunately old enough to remember Shane playing in, not a final but certainly at least one football semi final.

I'd claim that those are some harsh words written towards JMK, he is easily Portglenones most successful manager surely?

Quote from: NorthAntrimSaff on September 29, 2025, 11:58:34 AMThe "tops refs" probably don't have time for training as they are out maybe six days a week between underage/ladies/camogie etc.

Not sure of the reason but i noticed one of our top refs not out at all this weekend. Hopefully another reason apart from not being selected

They don't have time for training? What do they be at pre season? The better refs over the recent past were from the SW whom seem to have hung them up for whatever reason. I'd put Colm McDonald in that bracket also, rarely any chaos surrounding him.

I mentioned the officiating a few games ago and received private messages from an official.

Read into that what you will.

Creggan were fantastic today and deserved a replay at least. They have some really good forwards, outside of the obvious.

Quote from: bannside on September 27, 2025, 11:59:25 AMHaven't posted here for a bit but fair play to Dunloy, they were hungry, sharp and well coached. Got their shooters on the end of their moves, and compared to Portglenone had little or no wastage.

Casements looked flat for some reason, tried hard but couldn't find a way through a well drilled Dunloy defence.

No excuses from us, better team won on the night when it mattered.

Dunloy have half a dozen players would not be out of place playing at county level and will be a worthy and dangerous opponent for the winners of Cargin and Creggan. Carry a hunger that will be hard to suppress...they are no longer under the radar, they've well and truly lost that tag.

Now the focus is on who their opponents will be.

Gracious as per, Bannside. Reading your posts from earlier in the season and other posters referencing Casements I had an inkling all was not well. This has to be the case after watching that last night and the previous game. They were so far off the pace it was obvious.

Marty34, have they not a 'big name' management ticket? They only have the biggest named management in Antrim if not Ulster.

Quote from: Spike on September 26, 2025, 09:39:35 PMPortglenone dont have it.  Their forwards are poor and they have no appetite for a battle.  Ref soft for dunloy too which didn't help them.

Dunloy have great distance shooters which is a brilliant asset in tight games.

Ref good to Dunloy were they? What about the 2 point free given near half time?

Can litter your team all you like, does not guarantee success - as the Caviar Crew can attest.

It would be futile for me to ask how Cargin have been 'littered' with outsiders in the past so I will refrain  ;D

And 15/16? Try 25/26

Generational? Rossa haven't reached a football final in over 30 years. St Johns have made 1 in the past 25, won it once in the 90s I believe. You are reaching by laying the lack of challenges from the pair at the door of 'dual' especially when Dunloy have a strong case to win it this year. And I honestly don't believe the hurling has or will hold Dunloy back in any way this year or recently in the football.

Quote from: Christmas Lights on September 24, 2025, 10:09:50 AMSay if St Johns or Rossa concentrated soley on football for a year, could they realistically win a football championship?  Is there much of a cross over between their football and hurling teams?

I would say the chances would be very slim indeed. As for the crossover, Rossa probably have more than St Johns. Neither would have as many as Dunloy I'd imagine. And less quality dual players imho.

Admittedly I have not seen St Theresas play since the IFC final last year but unless there is massive improvement it will take more than a handy venue for them to beat Moneyglass.
